I'm 18 with permanent Static 11's, and frown lines between eyes. Do I need Botox?

The problem with dynamic wrinkles is that they are a result of muscle contraction for various reasons. Your stress could be causing you to frown in your sleep, for example. You could try a small dose of Botox as an intervention and continue your skin regiment while the Botox allows your muscles to relax. If after the Botox wears off you see the lines returning, you will know that you might need ongoing maintenance with Botox. If they don't come back, then you've solved your issues and can stop the injections until you get a bit older.

It's a good question. Wrinkles in her face form when the muscles of facial expression contract over and over again throughout our lifetime. As the muscle contracts the overlying skin folds and unfolds and eventually becomes thin. Using Botox to weaken the muscle gives the skin a chance to recover and prevents further deepening of the wrinkle. It's difficult to predict, but Botox may help those lines improve. In situations where the wrinkle is permanent you could consider having a small amount of filler placed within the line. This fills the line and makes it less noticeable.

I have not seen your photos but don't believe that you should start using Botox at the age of 18. Fine lines will reduce drastically with good topical care, RetinA cream and sunscreen. Reserve Botox and fillers for your 20s and 30s.

Hi Clare, Thank you for your question.The answer is that you will likely need Botox (to relax the lines) and an HA filler to fill in the actual crease in the skin.  You will likely see significant improvement after one treatment.Good luck.Dr. Chapas

Hi,my advice is to consider improving the skin quality with procedures like Dermaroller, Dermal Fillers so that the skin gets the snap back to come out of the frown lines.Botox is a great molecule, but I recommend that you try the above first.warm regardsDr Prashant Murugkar

Botox injections may be the best solution for  now. you may only need 10 Units to relax the muscles. The good news is that with time and after several injections you may be able to go by with only 5 Units (2.5 each side). 

It is impossible to know if these lines will disappear with time. Hopefully as you are less stressed they'll improve.  However, once static lines appear, even when totally relaxed, they may be there to stay. A small amount of Botox could soften or remove the lines. If they are still subtly apparent after the Botox, you may have a permanent line.  Discuss this with an experienced injector, preferably a facial plastic surgeon or oculoplastic surgeon.

Unfortunately, even with your current regimen it is unlikely that these lines will get better as you age. Most often, they stay the same or deepen over time. Botox is the gold standard treatment for the "11s" but fillers can also be used in some cases to plump up the imprinted lines.
