To understand the answer to this question, it really helps to understand the reasoning behind saying yes or no to your question. In theory, any time the skin is broken for any reason, including piercing your ears, there is the risk that bacteria that lives naturally on the skin could be introduced internally to your body (one of the skin's main functions is to act as an external barrier to bacteria and other organisms that can cause infection). If the bacteria enters your body then finds it's way into the blood stream, it could theoretically find its way to the surface of the breast implants and cause either an infection of the implants which could lead to their near-term removal or seed the surface with a small amount of bacteria which in theory could lead to hard scar tissue (capsular contracture). Thus, it is in your best interest not to be in a hurry to get your ears pierced and instead allow your body to heal completely from the breast augmentation. While no one is likely going to have a definitive answer on what "heal completely" means, I would suggest waiting at least 4-6 weeks before having your ears pierced. A little patience now could be worth thousands of dollars and countless hours of recovery in the future...it's always better safe than sorry. Best of luck with your continued recovery!
Hi there, Thank you for your question. There should not be any contraindications between a BA and ear piercings. Best, realdrsix
Thanks for the question. In my practice, after performing a BA I recommend to my patients to limit the movement of the arms for two weeks. After that, you can move your arms taking care and always with common sense. In this regard, it's not advisable to carry heavy weights to prevent the implant out of position, and allow the formation of the physiological capsule around the implant, also to avoid pain and breast swelling. Kind regards
I advise my patients to wait to wait at least 6 weeks after breast augmentation surgery before they get a piercing, because of the rare risk of infection from the piercing. It's always best to check with your surgeon about his or her protocol. For more information on this and similar topics, I recommend a plastic surgery Q&A book like "The Scoop On Breasts: A Plastic Surgeon Busts the Myths."
This can be an option for sure. However, you should consult with you treating doctor to make this decision. Sincerely,Dr. K
As long as the piercing can be done cleanly and in a sterile manner, we allow our patients to have piercings done 2 weeks after surgery. You should ask your own surgeon however.
Thanks for this question. I don't recommend any other procedures for 30 days after breast implant surgery on all my patients. That's my personal preference. Your surgeon may feel different.
We will all have different answers to this question and so it is best to post the question to your surgeon.
It could be fine to have your ears pierced. Perhaps it is better to wait about a week or two to just be safe.
In general, in my practice, I would recommend that patients wait until the breast augmentation is well healed before have any other elective surgical procedure, including ear piercing. In most cases, this may be a period of at least 3 to 4 weeks. But, check with your surgeon for their recommendations in your case. Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
Thank You for your question. Typically in my practice I allow my patients to drive in 1 weeks time. Important conditions include being off all narcotics and feeling as though you have full control of your vehicle should you need to make a sudden stop or avoid an accident. Every...
It is a difficult question to answer, as there are many possibilities for what could be causing your pain and hardness. I would recommend that you consult in-person with a board certified plastic surgeon as well as the breast surgeon who performed your operation. Without a...
Thank you for the question. Your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource when it comes to returning to specific occupation/activities. He/she knows exactly what was done, how you are progressing (every patient has a different experience after breast surgery), whether or not you have...
