How long after breast augmentation surgery could you go on a night out?

I appreciate your question.Typically, my guideline is, the first week is the hardest. By the second week you feel better, at four weeks you feel 100% and at six weeks you can go back to complete normal routines and exercising. Four days after surgery, I would be careful as you are still at risk for bleeding. If you are taking any pain medication, I would not drink alcohol. Dear O,   Congratulation on your upcoming breasts augmentation surgery, which is , probably, one of the best investment in yourself.  You should discuss that issue with your surgeon, because different doctors have different policy about post operative activity. However, I can tell you that in my practice, after breasts augmentation surgery, patients are instructed to start doing implants displacement massage on the third post operative day. They are prevented from lifting , exercise and other physical activities for 2 weeks, though they can conduct light duty type of activity like desk work etc.  After the initial 2 weeks, they can, gradually, increase their physical activity over the following two weeks and resume normal activity without limitation after one month.   So, as you can see, your big night is secure. Thank you for your question.  It is always best to first discuss you post op care with your operating surgeon as each surgeon has their own unique set of post operative instructions.  That being said, in our practice we advise patients to avoid any activities that will increase their heart rates significantly for a minimum of 2 weeks, to refrain from alcohol use for a minimum of 10-14 days, and to refrain from any heavy lifting or chest exercises for a minimum of 2-3 months.With kind regards,Lane F. Thank you for the question. Your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource when it comes to returning to specific occupation/activities. He/she knows exactly what was done, how you are progressing (every patient has a different experience after breast surgery), whether or not you have experienced any complications or setbacks, and exactly what type of activities you wish to return to.
A period of bed rest is not necessary after breast augmentation surgery.  Most patients are "over the hump" of most discomfort somewhere between two and four days after the procedure.  It is during these initial days that patients benefit from the most help at home, rest, and the use of pain medication and muscle relaxants. Careful attention to good hydration/nutrition, anti nausea measures (if needed),  and working towards return of normal bowel movements are  important considerations during this time period.
On average, I ask patients to take off 5 days to 1 week after breast augmentation surgery (desk job). For some professions, I may suggest a going back to work with a lighter workload (or in your case, having someone else do the lifting etc.. that would involve the pectoralis muscle). Ideally, I ask patients not to lift anything heavy or do things ( like pulling/pushing) that contract the pectoralis musle for at least 3 weeks. Patients are able to return to running and heavier lifting 4 to 6 weeks after surgery.  I ask my patients to stay away from "pectorals major" activity such as push-ups and bench press for several months.
Most of my patients feel comfortable lifting 10 pounds, using good body mechanics (elbows by their sides and using legs…) after the first week post.  This is the period of time I ask patients with children to have a lot of help around them.
Ultimately, it will be important for you to “listen to your body”, apply common sense, and return to activities/exercises in a gradual fashion. Best wishes. 

At 2 1/2 weeks after breast implant surgery, all activity is allowed except for vigorous physical activity and contact sports.  You should be good to go for your night on the town.

You should be fully recovered by that time in order to go out to dinner and enjoy yourself.  You will still have some restrictions with regard to activity, such as lifting, but not for activities of daily living.  To be sure, discuss postop instructions and restrictions with your surgeon.

May patients can go out the same night of surgery or within a few days depending upon the technique used. You should be good to go at 2.5 weeks. Have fun Good luck

Good afternoon and thank you for your question.  With primary breast augmentation it is best to be up and about as soon as possible after your surgery, though avoiding heavy lifting and exercise for a few weeks afterward.  You should be fine to go out with friends, just watch out for those big squeezing hugs!
