Hello,Your concern over swelling is understandable, and valid.  With our breast augmentation patients we emphasize gentle massage of the upper and lateral aspects of the breasts (just not near to the incisions), along with also gentle range of motion of the upper extremities/arms. We also recommend taking daily arnica Montana, and bromelain extract (or fresh pineapple) pre, and post-operatively for the initial few days.This combination seems to work well for our patients.  I hope this helps.Thank you, S.P. Because most of the tissue edema and swelling after breast augmentation is internal I do not believe that an external treatments such as cold packs will help.  The most important thing is time and usually the swelling is gone by the second to third week after breast augmentation.Wearing an extremely tight and compressive bra can increase swelling and increase the amount of time for swelling to resolve.  Please express your concerns to your plastic surgeon.
