I have been using frozen peas on my cleavage and under my armpits. (I have some bruising near where side boob is) I've heard of people using arnica Montana but I really want a legitimate answer before putting absolutely anything on my breasts.
Answer: Arnica for surgery I recommend Arnica Montana and Bromelain Before and After SurgeryBromelain is a botanical extract with natural anti-inflammatory and other beneficial properties. It can help decrease inflammation, swelling and pain that often accompany a surgical procedure.Arnica Montana has been touted as causing decreased bruising, swelling and pain associated with surgery or soft tissue injury. with our homeopathic Arnica Montana. For a thorough explanation of the beneficial effects of Bromelain, see the below link to an article I wrote on the subjectThe optimal dosage is not known. I would recommend purchasing it from a company that specializes in pre-surgical medicines such as Vitamedica. You can contact my office if you are not able to find it elsewhere.

Answer: Re: What are the best ways to reduce swelling after a Breast Augmentation? Hello,Your concern over swelling is understandable, and valid. With our breast augmentation patients we emphasize gentle massage of the upper and lateral aspects of the breasts (just not near to the incisions), along with also gentle range of motion of the upper extremities/arms. We also recommend taking daily arnica Montana, and bromelain extract (or fresh pineapple) pre, and post-operatively for the initial few days. This combination seems to work well for our patients. I hope this helps.Thank you, S.P. Maggi, MD, FACSAustin Plastic Surgery Center

Answer: What are the best ways to reduce swelling after a Breast Augmentation? And where should I put it? You are doing all he right things. The best option to resolve swelling and bruising is just time. Arnica is frequently used but most patinets will take it by mouth prior to the surgery. At this point , I don't feel you will benefit much from its use. Good luck

Answer: Swelling There are really no good external treatments for swelling except for time. I place my patient in a post operative supportive bra to help with the swelling. Arnica can help, but best when taken right before and after surgery. I do not believe ice will help much for you.

Answer: Time is the best treatment for swelling after breast augmentation Because most of the tissue edema and swelling after breast augmentation is internal I do not believe that an external treatments such as cold packs will help. The most important thing is time and usually the swelling is gone by the second to third week after breast augmentation.Wearing an extremely tight and compressive bra can increase swelling and increase the amount of time for swelling to resolve. Please express your concerns to your plastic surgeon.
