Can I be in high altitude a week and a half post surgery?

Hello! Thank you for your question! Altitude and pressure have no effect on breast implants, whether saline or silicone. It is safe to travel by air within pressurized cabins or even scuba dive without concern. No further precautions should be taken during these activities. Certainly, discuss any concerns with your surgeon prior. In the same manner, blunt force will unlikely cause rupture. Repeated trauma from the folding of the implant over time is known to be associated with rupture. Obviously, penetrating trauma from sharp objects will also result in rupture. Both saline and silicone implants are very durable and daily activities will not cause any increased risk to the integrity of the implant. Hope that thus helps. Best wishes!

Traveling after breast augmentation surgeryThere is no problem in your travel plans..   but... you may notice that you develope gurgling or the sound of fluid sloshing and this is normal and will improve closer to sea level

Hi. The answer is absolutely yes. Practicing in Miami for the past 29 years has given me an opportunity to perform breast augmentations on many out of town patients. Often times the patient will go back within the same week as their surgery. Altitude does not affect the healing process. What you need to avoid is carrying heavy luggage whether checked in or carry on. Safe journey and enjoy your camping trip!

It's important not to be in a car or on a plane for long periods in the first few weeks after surgery.  It's also important that you not subject yourself to any activities that might involve strenuous use of your arms or activities with increased risk of tripping or falling.

There should be no problem camping in high altitude after breast augmentation surgery. It is always a good idea to clear all activity with your plastic surgeon.

However, best to communicate your plans with your surgeon  and let him/her know exactly what activities you have planned.  It is likely that you will be able to enjoy your family trip, minus strenuous activity.
