I appreciate your question. Typically, my guideline is, the first week is the hardest. By the second week you feel better, at four weeks you feel 100% and at six weeks you can go back to complete normal routines and exercising. Four days after surgery, I would be careful as you are still at risk for bleeding. If you are taking any pain medication, I would not drink alcohol. With my 'Schwartz Rapid Recuperation' recovery, most of my patients are out to dinner the following evening. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic plastic surgery. Best of luck! Dr. Schwartz Board Certified Plastic Surgeon #RealSelf100Surgeon #RealSelfCORESurgeon
The answer to this question depends....................how much anesthesia did you receive? How tolerant are you of pain? The usual patient will leave the facility within one hour of going to the recovery room after a breast augmentation. Good luck
The times that you were given seem rather short to me. I assume that you are having general anesthesia for your breast augmentation.Proper procedure is that after you wake up from your surgery you will be transferred to a recovery room or "Post Anesthesia Care Unit" (PACU).Your time spent in recovery depends on how soon you are fully wake and alert. Generally patients need to be fully awake, have adequate pain relief, able to sip fluids and eat crackers before they are released from the recovery room. After recovery room in my hospital patients then go to the outpatient ambulatory care recovery where the vital signs are checked, and the nurses determine if you are able to walk and safe to go home.In my experience the earliest I have seen patients leave after they recover from anesthesia is 3 hours. However especially after breast implants placed beneath the muscle, pain can be an issue, and patients can spend over 4 hours in recovery before discharge. You need to discuss this in detail with your plastic surgeon and if you are uncomfortable with what you are told you should seek another plastic surgery consultation with a board certified physician who operates at an accredited facility. For more information on breast augmentation please read the following link:
