I got double eyelid surgery suture method 2 years ago to correct ptosis in my right eye. I do not like the crease fold created and wanted to see if I can reverse the surgery? would it be possible to remove the sutures that create the fold and will it go back to the way I used to look?

It depends very much on what was done and what you mean by ptosis repair. Generally, the suture method is used only for creating a double eyelid. A much more complex procedure is using a single permanent suture to correct a ptosis at the same time as placing a double eyelid crease. In that case, removal of the suture will cause the ptosis to return. You may or may not get rid of the double eyelid fold. Pre and post op photos will greatly increase the accuracy of the responses. An in person consult is ideal.

Simply removing the suture now 2 years after the surgery is not likely to allow the eyelid to return to its original appearance. Removing the suture does not remove the scaring in the eyelid so the crease may persist.  Additionally, it can be challenging to remove the suture. Generally it is possible to lower the upper eyelid crease with open surgery if the crease was made too high.

Thanks for your question.  Sorry to hear that your eyelids did not turn out as you had hoped.  Whether your creases can return to their original appearance depends on the technique used and the scarring present.  Sometimes the crease can be reversed or partially reversed by removing the sutures used.  Your surgeon should be able to best answer these questions for you.

Hello kangstep,It will be very difficult to reverse your surgery by attempting to remove suture. There is too much scar tissue defining your lid. If appearance is an issue it might be worth investigating surgical option to recreate the crease. This is possible. My suggestion is to have this discussion with your surgeon or an expert Oculoplastic surgeon. Hope this helps.Cheers
