Hi ! I had a breast lift / augmentation 2 years ago in Tijuana Mexico (I live in San Diego ) everything went great at first ! But 2 years later and a baby later / weight loss after baby( I have 3 kids ) I have been experiencing horrible back pain with numbness between my shoulder blades EVERYDAY ! Which I have never had before along with sagging. now I'm thinking of having them removed and going 500cc w a lift (I'm 5'8 broad shoulders and 190 pounds ) will that fix my back pain ?

See a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery for recommendations and a full exam to determine if implant removal will help your pain. I do believe those implants are too large and will only worsen over time. While going to 500cc with a lift sounds reasonable one would need to examine you and go over you concerns before making appropriate recommendations. Best of luckJosh Olson MD

It is certainly feasible to #downsize to smaller implants and also alter the positioning; if possible. However, decreasing is size may also require a Breast #Lift to to #tighten loose skin, better optimize the end result. Any #revision has risks of unhappy outcome or other complications. Also, the right implant for the revision is contingent on shape of body and your desired outcome.

There are many different options in your case.  I would remove the implants and perform the lift as the first stage.  Then you would be able to decide if you want implants at all and what size.  Trying to do it all in one stage is unlikely to give you a good result and there would be an increased incidence of complication.

Thanks for your pictures.  In my opinion, downsizing your implants is a good idea.  This will help salvage your skin. It is debatable if it will help your back pain.

Thank you for your question and photos.  There are many variables that contribute to back pain and although large heavy breasts are felt to be a significant factor one can not promise that a reduction will guarantee relief of symptoms.  You may benefit from improved appearance and with the decrease in size and weight improvement of symptoms but no promises.  I would start with with a face to face consult with a Board Certified
Plastic Surgeon who has experience in breast surgery.
During your visit your surgeon should be evaluating your health to determine if
you are a good surgical candidate and examining your tissues to get a sense of
what type of procedure your tissues will allow. Only with a hands on exam can
this be determined. During the consult you and the surgeon should be
understanding of the goals and realistic outcomes of your choices. Be sure to
see plenty of before and after photos to get an idea of the range of patient
experience of your surgeon. Once an exam and opinion is rendered then you can
decide if surgery is right for you. Good luck.

It is difficult to say if your large implants are causing your back pain but they certainly aren't helping.  Pregnancy changes and the weight of your large implants have lead to skin stretch and recurrent sagging.  My recommendations for those like you with this difficult problem is removal or, deflation of the implants if saline, in a first stage.  Allow one month for the tissues to recover, then perform mastopexy with or without a smaller implant in a second stage.  The one month recovery period allows for skin recoil and tissue contraction which will make the mastopexy easier to design and execute.

Changes in the appearance of breast implants can occur as a result of breast feeding and weight changes related to pregnancy, and this can change the results of what was once a nice breast augmentation. Like you, many women may experience drooping of the implants from stretched out skin and many women want both a lift and a change in the size of their implants. A breast lift will help to remove excess skin to create a more lifted perky look, and this is especially needed when switching to a much smaller implant.Switching to a smaller implant must be done carefully so that the implants are not positioned too low, or too far to the side. This usually requires a technique called a 'neo-pocket' or a new space to put the implant into. Many surgeons will also recommend using a support matrix to help keep the shape of this pocket. This support matrix has the added benefit of acting like an internal bra to help the implants stay in a lifted perky position for the long term.
