Dr.injected dysport 100 units drawn from a completely open vial. Vial had no stopper or any lid at all. Is this usual practice. How do I even know it's sterile, legitimately dysport, or even viable being completely exposed to air.
Answer: Not unusual to remove stopper from vial Hi,Thank you for your question. As others have mentioned, some injectors may remove the stopper if they are near the end of the vial to make it easier to draw up the remaining product. Typically a larger needle is used to draw up the product but some injectors may use a small/short needle, which becomes dull with passing through the rubber stopper and can be more painful to inject with afterward.I typically do not remove the stopper at our practice but if you have any concern about the sterility of the product, please don't hesitate to reach out to your injector. Hope this helps!

Answer: No one draws botulinum toxin through a stopper using a small gauge needle. It is not standard practice to remove the stopper. There is no way to maintain the sterility of the solution to be injected. It is common practice to draw up in a sterile fashion from a vial with the stopper. The stopper is sterilized using alcohol before drawing from the vial with a sterile needle and syringe. Yes a stopper will damage the tiny needles we use for actually injecting. That is why an 18 gauge needle is used to draw the product and the needle is changed to a small gauge needle for the actual injection. Find a new injector who uses best practices. You are right to be concerned about this. Don't pay attention to doctors who refer to you back to a doctor who cuts corners like this-yuck.

Answer: I had Dysport injected from a vial that was unsealed and had no stopper on it. Is this usual practice? This is not unusual at all. This is common practice when using 30, 31, and 32 gauge needles to inject (hurts less) as these needles can be damaged by the stopper. You should call the doctor you went to see for your injection and discuss all your concerns. Good luck, Dr. ALDO

Answer: Legit dysport The answers to your question demonstrate that there are a variety of opinions and practices regarding uncapping dysport. While most practitioners do not, know that some high volume practices have developed protocols that involve removal of the stopper, sterile prep of the vial top, and immediate aspiration into syringes to have them available. As for whether authentic product is used, you can access the dsyportusa.com website and the manufacturer lists practitioners that purchase their product. The most important thing is to find a practitioner who is transparent and willing to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your care. Hope you get a great result from your treatment.

Answer: Stopper can be off It is common to decap a bottle of disport or botox if the vial is going to be used quickly. Depending on the type of needles your doctor uses sometimes puncturing the rubber makes the needle dull so the cap removed. Its possible the doctor just opened the cap for a previous patient and it was still open.
