How long does 50 units of dysport last? I had 50 units spread across two areas on forehead - on horizontal lines and "11's".

I'm 39, I don't have static lines, but got dysport as preventative. 1 wk later, eyebrows are lower, my forehead feels heavy and my eyelids look even more hooded, I'm Asian so they were hooded already but now it's even more so. I told the Dr I wanted to look natural and still have movement in my eyebrows but I can't even move them! I only got 50 units spread over two areas does it mean it won't last as long? At what point will I start to get movement back in my eyebrows?

Hi,Thank you for your question.50 units is typically less than what most patients would use for the forehead and the 11s. Most patients can handle 50 units of dysport just at the glabella (the 11s between the eyebrows). It's possible too many units were placed in the forehead area. I typically start with 20-25 Dysport units at the forehead, depending on the size and muscle strength but sometimes even less if the patient desires a light treatment because you can always add more units but you can't take out the units already injected.The maximum effect of Dysport is at 2 weeks so you may continue to experience some heaviness but the effect will continue to soften over the next few weeks. Unfortunately, there isn't anything to do to speed up the process. I recommend following up with your injector so that the treatment can be reduced at the forehead in the future.Hope this helps!

I'm sorry that you're unhappy with your Dysport treatment.  The product is in full effect after two weeks and will gradually fade after three or four months.  It may not last as long if you were undertreated.  I've included a video I hope you find helpful.

Dysport last 3 to 4 months, but you did not have a high dose considering all the areas treated. I suggest you talk to your injector about what length of results to expect, but it could be as much as 4 months. Good luck, Dr. ALDO

50 units in two areas (forehead and frown) is half the "normal" dose (50 units per area is customary) so it is surprising that you had that much effect but it can happen. It can last 3-4 months depending how many times you have had it done before. Repeated use extends the duration and the effect.

Thank you for your question.  I'm sorry to hear that you're unhappy with the results of your recent Dysport treatment.  Generally speaking, the effects of Dysport last 3-4 months, though you will likely notice that your brows will start to feel less heavy much earlier than this.  Fifty units of Dysport spread between the glabella (the "11 lines") and the forehead is actually a fairly conservative dose.  It's possible that your injector placed your injections too low in your forehead or too high in the glabella - either scenario can result in a heavy, flat brow.If you do decide to try Dysport or Botox treatments in the forehead again, I would recommend discussing your concerns with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon.  I hope this helps!
