My nose has a wide nasal bone, what are my options to fix this? (Photo)

Thank you for your question. Changing the nose can completely change the look of the face because it is such a prominent feature. You seem like an ideal candidate for rhinoplasty so I suggest that you move forward and consult with your board certified facial plastic surgeon.

Thank you for your question.  Wide nasal bones and a wide nasal tip can be corrected through an open rhinoplasty.  During this procedure the underlying cartilage and bone of the nose can be narrowed and reshaped to give a more slender and refined appearance.  Based on your pictures, I agree that the nasal bones are slightly wide and in addition the middle third and nasal tip are also wide and slightly bulbous.  The nasal bones can be narrowed during surgery relatively easily, and precise sutures are placed into the nasal tip to help narrow it as well.  Also the thickness of the skin can add to the overall with of the nose.Be sure to consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty.  Here you will have a full evaluation and be able to discuss your goals for surgery.  I hope that this helps!–David Gilpin

photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can
accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your
lower nose.   Make sure you specifically look at before and after
pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon
and not just a computer animation system. The most important
aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek
consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate

Hello,Thanks for your question. Wide nasal bones are treated by nasal osteotomies. This are specialized cuts made in the bone to reposition and narrow them. Wide nasal bones are very common, especially in men and are treated in rhinoplasty surgery on a routine basis. The photographs do not show the entire face, so it is not possible to compare proportions. However, you may be a candidate for improvement in several aspects of the nose. My best advice is to consult with a very experienced rhinoplasty surgeon so that you can discuss all the options as they relate to the different views of the nose.

Nasal width can easily reduced with surgery. Bones can be moved in on both sides to make your nose narrow.

Osteotomies on either side of your nose can be done to narrow the upper half of your nose. For symmetry and balance you will most likely need your tip narrowed too.  In a male especially always have to be careful about not making any part of your nose too narrow.

 Wide  and crooked nasal bones are treated with medial and lateral osteotomies placed in them to both narrow and straighten the nasal  bones.  All of this can be performed with a closed rhinoplasty approach by making all of the incisions on the inside of the nose. Anticipate a cast place across the bridge of the nose for one week, and visible swelling and bruising for two weeks.
