An injector put dysport in my upper cheeks. 3 days post, and fat "hangs over" my smile line. What are the long-term concerns?

3 days later, I noticed that the fat pads of my cheeks did not rise when I smiled and therefore creating a very pronounced nasolabial fold and the fat almost "hands over" my smile line. My cheeks and under eye area feel heavy, and the fat pads look lower at rest. I'm concerned that when the muscle strength returns, the fat will still sit lower on my face than before.

Keep in mind, it can take up to 2 weeks for final results with Dysport. If you're unhappy with your final results, venus legacy or thermage treatments can give improvement. Results resolve in 3-4 months and will not cause permanent changes. Best, Dr. Emer

I would expect your appearance to return to normal after the Dysport wears off from the injection you had to your cheeks.  It may take a few months for this to occur however.

I'm sorry you are unhappy with your Dysport treatment.  Results can be seen about three to five days after treatment and are in full effect after two weeks.  The results from your treatment will gradually fade and should be resolved after three or four months.

It is very unusual to have neurotoxin injections in levator muscles, but the consequences are classic and that is what you are experiencing. Once the muscle strength is regained everything should return to its baseline. Please contact a qualified provider or a board-certified physician with extensive experience in these procedures.

Hi and thank you for your question.  It sounds as if your injector has treated you outside of the therapeutic area. An adverse result such as a ptosis, will resolve after a few weeks. However it is advised to return to the clinic which performed your treatment.

Hi there,I'm so sorry to hear you are having this problem. Unfortunately, Dysport effects are irreversible. The results are temporary, however, lasting between 3-4 months and should not have any long term effects.
I suggest seeking out an experienced injector.

Hi, 
I am sorry that you have had an adverse outcome after having dysport. Unfortunately, there is not much you can do to make this better except just to be patient and wait for the dysport to wear off. This typically takes around 3-4 months. It is possible that the solution was injected too low and affected your muscles that lift the cheeks instead of the muscles that create the wrinkles around your eyes. There should not be any long term consequences, but if you have any concerns, you should definitely contact the Doctor who injected you.
