Can my saline implants be drained? How long can you wait before you have the shells removed/replaced? (Photos)

First I would like to say thank you for your question. Saline implants can be drained and left in place. I have seen this and have also performed this for various reasons. The downside of deflating them without removing them is that the capsule or scar tissue around the implant will likely get thicker and tighter around the implant which can sometimes lead to discomfort. Typically to just remove them should not cost that much and save you from the other issues of the scar tissue forming. I would suggest asking about all options with your plastic surgeon. the implants can be drained with a needle under local anesthesia.  The shells can be removed from the next day
to a few months.  I recommend a lift
after explantation using The Bellesoma Method.

without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to
increase your cleavage.  Vertical scars
are avoided, nipple sensation and the ability to breast feed are maintained, if

Hi and thank you for your photos and question.  Yes, you can have your saline implants deflated in the office under local anesthesia.  You will then be able to get an idea of what you would like without implants.  There is no maximum time frame that you can leave them in, but removing them is usually quite easy.  Best of luck!

You could theoretically have the implants deflated (under local anesthesia by a board certified plastic surgeon) and "live with them" a while to see what you think.  They could then be refilled, or removed, at a subsequent surgery.  The fact that you "are no longer attracted to bigger" breasts, and that they have the dynamic deformity you show, you probably should just have them out. If you don't like the dynamic deformity aspect but still want some augmentation you could have new, smaller implants placed on top of the muscle.

Yes, you can drain saline implants.  It can be done in the office under local anesthesia.  It is a relatively quick procedure, but I would not recommend leaving the implants in place, once drained, for more than a few months.  After deflated, implants can have a very rippled appearance and you will more easily feel the edge, which can be uncomfortable.  The scar tissue will also tend to tighten and create an even more irregular appearance.  Good luck with your decision.

You can wait and plan if your schedule will not allow the time to remove your ruptured implant. Eventually the shell may become uncomfortable and removal is such a simple process you might not want to wait long.

The scenario you described is not make sense. If you simply want the implants out then just have them removed. Once you deflate them, you cannot reinflate them anyway. I have seen deflated saline implants be inside the capsule for years until the patient does something about it. Sometimes, as the implant deflates, it makes a knife like shape and actually causes pain from stabbing the capsule from the inside. Usually that patient will have the offending implant removed sooner rather than later. Hope that's helpful.
