Answer: Reciprocal Relationship Between Nipple and Implant Hello, Your deviant nipple position (laterally and superiorly malpositioned) is directly related to the medially and inferiorly malpositioned implant underneath it. You state that the original implant was too wide. That wasn't the problem; it was that your original implant was too big and/or high profile, leading to the problems that you still have now with your current HP implants: malpostion/displacement. HP implants have the highest risk of complications. Discuss with your surgeon or get a second opinion from a ABPS certified/ASAPS member surgeon who specializes in revision breast surgery. It's all about making choices, and had your surgeon chosen a more moderate profile implant and an anchor lift 7 years ago, you would be here to today looking better now with only one surgery. Best of luck!

Answer: Why does my nipple appear to be pointed outward post breast lift with implant revision? It's a good question. Many women tend to have a pointing nipple after surgery, and it's typically due to swelling. The nipple area become swollen after the procedure and tends to be more prominent. Over the next 1-2 months the swelling improves in the tissues soften. At this time the nipple becomes less projecting. Congratulations on your surgery.

Answer: BA results Dear WCKD,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast augmentation surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues around the implants are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides and the implants drop to their final position, you will be able to see the final result of your breast augmentation surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Your nipples are in your natural position for your mounds as surgeons mark you before surgery and ther meridians are measured off your anatomic position... unless you asked that they be moved sideways in some way. When nipples are really off kilter, some surgeons recognize this and will offer moving the nipple sideways, either in or out, depending on the mound and implant position. Your nipples do point more lateral but they do not look bad at all. At this point, you must focus on healing and if a major issue for you down the road AND you're willing to accept poor scarring from a Benelli lift, you can have your nipples moved. I would suggest you heal and enjoy them as they still look very good, especially this early out from your procedure.

Answer: Breast revision question If you look back at your pre-operative breast photos, your nipples sat to the outside of your breasts from the beginning. I think on your POD 18 photos you have a good result and I believe if this is the volume you wanted, a high profile implant is the only way to achieve this. I encourage you to maintain close follow-up with your board-certified plastic surgeon. You have a lot of healing to do and it will be months before you see the final results.I wish you well.Dr. Edwards
