I would like to have a mommy makeover even though i've never had children I'm 61 my breast are sagging as well as tummy. In 2014 I had a complete aortic dissection w/thoracic aneurysm rupture repaired. Would you feel comfortable doing these procedures on me? I still have a small abdominal aneurysm that's at 3.4 cm & being medically managed. My meds have caused weight gain. I have no fear. I also would like to have my sternotomy scar "fixed". I just had a huge lipoma removed from glute/thigh area @ Moffitt w/ no complications. Thank you.
Answer: Am I a candidate The first place to begin is by discussing your wishes for these procedures with your specialist. Medical clearance will be necessary. Even if it is granted, you are still a high risk patient. When considering surgeons, be sure they are board certified and fully aware of your medical history. You will likely need any procedure elected to be performed in the hospital with close monitoring after surgery.

Answer: Prior surgery - am I a candidate for a Mommy Makeover? Your current, not past health is most important to determine if a mommy makeover would be safe for you though all surgery carries risk. To that end, I would ask your vascular thoracic surgeon and your primary care physician to weigh in on relative risks. If they feel you are a reasonable candidate for a #mommymakeover then likely your plastic surgeon would also feel similarly. Make sure you find the best plastic surgeon with the most experience in your area. See link on how to do this.

Answer: Can I have a mommy makeover at 61 years old after aortic dissection and aneurysm repair? Thank you for the question. Your age considered alone is not a contraindication to mommy makeover surgery. Mommy makeover procedures can be done safely for patients with a variety of different “medical conditions”. Careful evaluation and treatment of the medical condition is necessary prior to determining the appropriate candidates for the tummy tuck procedure. The physicians who know your situation best would be best suited to discuss your suitability for the procedure and the potentially increased risks/ complications that you should consider. Also, please make sure you are seeking consultation with well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons who preferably work with board-certified anesthesiologists. I hope this helps. Best wishes.

Answer: Multiple elective procedure in patient with aortic aneurysm Providing that you are in stable condition and your aneurysm is under control it would be possible to do your surgeries. I would suggest doing it in the hospital with at least an overnight stay. Doing these surgeries separately (breast first, abdomen to follow) would be wise to avoid possible complications/risks. In person consultation with an experienced plastic surgeon and good coordination between your plastic surgeon, PCP, cardiologist and vascular surgeon is needed. Good luck.

Answer: Medical Clearance For Mommy Makeover mixter53. Sounds like you have been through a lot, but are doing well. As long as your medical doctor clears you for this operation that can take between 4 to 6 hours, there should be no other contraindications. However, are you taking anticoagulants and if so, can they be temporarily stopped for the surgery? All questions for your medical doctors. It appears from your photo that you only require breast lift/reduction, Tummytuck with liposuction and scar revision of your sternal scars. Discuss all medical history once you select your board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck
