5 days post op, one breast implant is dropping faster than the other, is this normal?

I had a breast augmentation last Wednesday (I am 5 days post op). I understand that I will have to wait for the dropping and fluffing process to complete before I get a real picture, but I have noticed that one breast is dropping faster than the other. Is this normal and is there anything I can do to make the higher one drop faster? I was a 12b prior to surgery and had 415cc full profile implants under the muscle.

Don't worry about the asymmetry right now because you're too early on in your recovery to judge your results. It's very common for implants to settle at different rates.

It is common for one breast to heal at a faster rate than the other. Please ask your surgeon what you can do to help the process along. For example, some patients may benefit from wearing a tensor bandage wrapped around the top of their breasts, but make sure to talk to your surgeon first.

Congratulations on your surgery!  It is very common for one breast to heal a bit faster than the other, including how quickly the implant settles into the pocket.  You are very early in the recovery process and have many changes ahead.  I know it's hard to be patient, but more time is needed.  Continue to follow the advice of your surgeon.

Congratulations on your surgery!  You would think that they would drop at the same rate, but it is typical for one side to drop before the other and you shouldn't worry about that.  You are only 5 days post-op, and you will notice over the next several months that your breasts will change quite a lot from shape to softness. Continue to follow your surgeon's post-op instructions and be patient.  Remember, no one has perfectly symmetrical breasts so even after your implants have settled, you may still experience slight asymmetry, but I'm sure you will be quite happy! ac

One side of your body is naturally different from the other and this can cause a difference in healing time.  It can also depend on whether you are right or left handed because you may be performing your massages differently or more aggressively on the side that has dropped first.  When you next visit your plastic surgeon ask him to make sure that you are massaging correctly so as not to develop capsular contracture.

Breast implants settle or drop in at different rates as your body adjusts to them and as the swelling goes out of your tissues.  You are only 5 days post-op,so your body still has quite a bit of healing to do.  Certainly you want to let your plastic surgeon informed of your concerns. it is quite common for implants to drop at differing rates.  The pectoral muscles are not identical. Usually the one on the handed side is larger and stronger. The pectoral muscles each will relax but each at its own pace to accommodate the new implants. Patience. All the best.
