Cosmetic Plastic Surgery patients in the San Francisco Bay Area have come to trust over 20 years experience of Dr. Joseph Mele. Located in the East Bay community of Walnut Creek, his practice includes both facial and body aesthetics with an emphasis on cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Mele performed lower eyelid surgery under local anesthesia. I think I actually fell asleep during the procedure:) . He has performed previous otoplasty surgery on me several years prior and this procedure was equally outstanding in the results. I can't tell you how much happier I am every morning I wake up and look in the mirror. I feel I have turned back the clock on my age by 20 years with this procedure alone. Thank you Dr. Mele and your staff so much. You are the best!
Dr Mele is an excellent surgeon with 24 yrs experience and very grounded and friendly. I am absolutely thrilled with his work and highly recommend him. I had decided to have lipo after gaining considerable weight during covid. Despite my working out 5 days a week and switching to a plant based diet once the local economy opened, it was frustrating to see that I wasn't getting any traction or changes in my body despite the hard work. I'm guessing it has to do with being in my 50's and lower metabolism? I researched several surgeons & met with Dr. Mele and booked my procedure that was a months ahead. I was nervous to be under general anesthesia but it all worked out fine and once I got through the first three days which was the most difficult (felt like a bus hit me), and every day thereafter got better and better. The picture enclosed is just two weeks after the procedure & I'm pretty much back to my daily routine without the heavy duty exercise for another few weeks, preferring to be low key and just walk a few miles daily. I am so very pleased with my final result and I have read that the final actual outcome still will be a month or two away so if it looks this good two weeks post op, I can't imagine what a month or two will be like? (if no changes, I would be completely happy). You will be in good hands with Dr. Mele and his very efficient, friendly staff.
I've been wanting a breast augmentation since I was sixteen. When I finally had the money saved up I researched a lot of doctors in my area. Dr. Mele was the first consultation I went attended. I was very pleased with his professionalism and covid safety during the pandemic. He answered all of my questions (which was a lot) and never made me feel like I was taking up too much of his time or asking dumb questions. I also liked that I spoke with him the whole time and not any nurses. I felt so comfortable with him that I decided that I wanted him to do my surgery. Updated on 22 Dec 2020: I was finally starting to feel better and able to move around a lot more. I am beyond happy with the size. I told Dr. Mele I wanted to be a big a possible without being ridiculous. After measuring me, he said that 450cc is the max for the look I wanted. So that's what we settled on and during surgery he overfilled it to 455cc. I'm very excited to see the final results and wear all the cute clothes I bought! Updated on 2 Jan 2021: I'm back to my old self like 95%. The pressure and weight is mostly gone. I still take ibuprofen as needed. I think the most annoying thing is the nipple sensitivity. I'll be so glad when that stops. Also, I can't wait to sleep on my side again. I'm super happy with the results. They look big in picutres but in real life they are very proportionate to my body and definitely fill out my frame. Updated on 27 Jan 2021: Very happy with how they look and how they feel. I'm glad I went with saline. I massage them everyday and they've definitely dropped significantly since my first post op pic. When I went to my doctor, he commented how they've been dropping faster than average. Updated on 3 Mar 2021: My right breast is slightly higher as you can see but that also cause I was lifting my arm. I am beyond happy with my results and my decision. I feel like me and this is how I was always meant to look. I'm so much more satisfied with the tops I can wear and how they look with my full chest. I think the size fits my body perfectly. When I'm wearing regular t shirts, you cant tell at all. No one would look at me in shock. I will say they do look bigger in pictures. In real life, theyre big but I feel like pictures make them pop! I'm also really happy I got them done in December when it was cold and I can heal under t shirts and sweaters. Now, when summer comes I'll be fully healed and able to wear whatever I want. Updated on 18 Dec 2021: Everything has been beyond perfect. This has been the best decision I ever made. I am so elated and would do it again in a heartbeat. I feel so comfortable in tops now and topless. I would've gone bigger if I could but I know that after measuring this was the biggest I could go without looking ridiculous. Dr Mele is a fantastic surgeon and I highly recommend him to anyone who has been thinking about this for a long time and ready to make the commitment. Updated on 4 Mar 2022: No underwire or push-up or padded bra. Just a lace top with a lace bralette. So beyond elated with my results. I will definitely be going to Dr. Mele for my revision if he doesn’t retire first. Haha.
Dr. Mele is an exceptional plastic surgeon. He was very caring and took his time explaining everything; I never felt rushed during my appointments with him. I had an otoplasty procedure done with Dr. Mele where he only corrected one ear (I was fine with the shape of the other one). Dr. Mele was able to match the ear he worked on to my other ear perfectly! I am very impressed with his precision and the results.
Dr. mele has made me feel complete! I had inverted nipple surgery under local anesthetic and we had great conversation, as i watched him make magic happen. I feel amazing and love my new breast! !!!!
I had my otoplasty surgery performed by Dr. Mele. My left ear was always protruded more and looking at even my childhood pictures, I remember how it made me self-conscious. Particularly, now that I have grown older and wear my hair shorter, I was not able to conceal it as much as I used to. Also, I have a long, thin face and ears that protrude are quite noticeable. Dr. Mele spent considerable time asking how much back I wanted them corrected. He is a great listener and very kind and gentle. I really felt at ease with him from the very beginning. I had local anesthesia and had almost no pain at all during the surgery. Although I did go home with pain pills, I did not need any. I had bandages on for about 4 days and then a headband for about another 10 days after. I no longer see my ears in my shadow any more:). Dr. Mele is very professional, highly skilled and great person. He called me personally the day after my surgery to see how I was doing. I cannot thank him or recommend him enough. I am definitely going to see him again for my next procedure.
Dr. Mele is an excellent plastic surgeon with a great attitude, friendly, pleasant and very understanding. He takes his time to explain everything.. I've been a patient of his for almost 5 years now and had 2 surgeries with him ,both I am so pleased and happy with the outcome . if I had to do other work I will definitely have him do it. Wonderful person and his staffs are great and always very helpful .
I have had extremely different sized breasts all my life that required me to wear thick padded bras that also had a sock stuffed into the left side (it's a lot smaller then the right breast) just to look normal in clothing. After nursing my two babies and losing 40 lbs my breasts look horrible. I plan on getting lipo in my armpit and back to smooth out areas of fat that have not budged with diet and exercise. Also I am hoping to get round, even full breasts so I can feel comfortable in my body and clothing while never having to resort to stuffing socks into my bras. Updated on 21 Jun 2015: I can't believe I went in for surgery 5 days ago. I was completely calm and ready. My fiancé took me to the Concord surgery center and stayed with me till it was go time. The staff and Dr. Mele were awesome and made me feel very comfortable. I got dressed into a backless gown and sat in a comfortable lazy boy like recliner. A sweet nurse put a iv line into my arm for hydration and covered me with warm blankets. I was ready to go to sleep lol. Dr. Mele then came in and drew on me and went over what was about to happen. He once again had great jokes and funny stories to share. I have my fiancé a kiss before laying in a portable bed and the nurse put an anxiety med into my iv. That's the last thing I remember before waking up to two awesome boobs! ???? I'm not gonna lie the last few days have been ruff. I haven't felt much pain in my breasts (which is great) but my back, hips, and armpits are so swollen and hurt from the bruising. I have a good compression garment to help with swelling in my arms and upper back but I need to get a better one for my lower back and hips. Currently I'm wearing spanx and a waist trainer under the compression wrap Dr. Mele provided for extra support. I will ask about different garments when I see him tomorrow for my first post op. Other then that I have taken all my antibiotics and pain meds and feel pretty good. I wasn't prepared for all the swelling and I hope I bounce back from that sooner than later. I'm getting married in August and don't wanna be super puffy ????. I never posted any photos so I will post some before and after shots. I JUST WANT TO SAY I LOVE MY BOOBS! I cried when my fiancé took my garment off to helps shower and I saw them. Although they were bruised, stitched up, and swollen they were absolutely gorgeous! For the first time in my life my nipples line up perfectly on a horizontal line... Dr. Mele re-shaped my breasts beautifully and made both my over stretched areola's a lovely size. I know I have a lot of healing to do but having my boobs done was one of the best decisions I have made and I am so happy I chose Dr. Mele. I can't wait to to shop for new tops and bras... Hell I might just wear shirts without a bra for awhile and enjoy perky even nipples. ???? Updated on 24 Jun 2015: My bruises from the lipo are changing colors and stiffening up. I think I am going to start getting massages to break it down. Iam still really swollen in my back and hips. However my boobs are bringing me great joy and I have started massaging them today. It feels strange and I have a silly fear that I will break them if I put to much pressure on them. I'm trying to be patient but I can't wait for my body to feel normal again. These compression garments suck so I hope the swelling diminishes soon. I tried a bikini top on and it felt awesome seeing no saggy boobs! I'm a happy girl ???? Updated on 24 Jun 2015: Bikini top fun ????????

I noticed in the mirror that my face was showing its age around March 2013; and decided that I needed to consider a facelift and A neck tightening as well. At 66 years old I was past the recommended age for a mini facelift, but general anesthetic was not an option I wanted to consider.
The most common problem after liposuction is a contour irregularity, either a bump or a dent, and the usual solution is liposuction for bumps or fat transfer from another area for dents. It can be a difficult problem and treatment often requires multiple surgeries. I have treated many dents in this area with fat grafting. A few were after liposuction, but the majority were the normal contours that my patients were born with. So while the dent may be new for you, it is not uncommon. Before and after pictures would be helpful in rendering an opinion, but the only opinions that count are those of an experienced surgeon who you see in person. The skin elasticity, and subcutaneous fat that can be pinched in and around the area will guide how best to approach this. Also at four months you are still healing. It could get better, or worse.Lipo shifting is a surgical treatment. It requires release of scarring and an adjacent area of excess fat to "massage" into the indentation. Post operative care is as important as the procedure, so it will be an investment in time. Lipo shifting is not great for moderate to large indentations. I'm not sure you have enough adjacent fat for this type of treatment. You may find people on-line defining lipo shifting as a combination of liposuction and fat transfer. This is technically not lipo shifting, but it is a more flexible option for treating contour irregularities after liposuction. It may be better for you situation, but I cannot know with seeing you.Sorry that you are not happy with the results of your liposuction. At this point, you still have time to heal. Use the time to decide if it is worth taking the risk or additional surgery or if it is better to live with what you have. Unfortunately, the only way to guarantee no surgical risks is to have no surgery. Massage, ultrasound are not likely to help, but these are also less like to harm and may be worth a try while you are deciding what is best for you.
The Fleur-De-Lis Tummy Tuck is like a Tummy Tuck, with the addition of a vertical scar. The vertical incision is used to remove skin centrally. The main indication for the vertical scar is horizontal laxity of the abdominal skin. While Tummy Tucks are great for removing lower skin laxity they primarily pull the abdominal skin down. The vertical scar allows the skin to be pulled together horizontally. If your upper abdominal skin is tight when pushing it side to side, you will not receive additional benefit from the Fleur-De-Lis Tummy Tuck.
Liposuction is more effective and safer than either of the products you mention. There is five times the risk of temporary paralysis with these agents because the bile acid used in them dissolves the fat that insulates the nerves in addition to the fat under the chin. The paralysis rate is 5% for the injectables vs 1% for liposuction. These fat dissolving injections usually take more than one treatment, while liposuction usually works the first time. The recovery is about the same.
There are several issues to sort out before embarking on additional elective surgery. Number one is your health. You need to be healthy and preexisting health problems need to stable and maximally treated. Number two is your nutrition. Good nutritional status is important for normal healing. After two large surgeries on your digestive system, you will want to wait until everything is "back to normal" before proceeding. You need to heal the surgery you've had, and you need you gi tract to return to normal function to heal any future surgery, including breast surgery.Number three is the placement of previous abdominal scars, this can influence how the tummy tuck can be performed. While you are not currently a candidate for surgery, it is never too early to get information. Unfortunately, these are not questions that can be answered online without additional information. I recommend seeing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area in person to help sort out some of these issues. Only then will the timing be able to be addressed.
Tummy Tucks tighten the belly muscle and skin and can remove disproportionate fat. It can be combined with Liposuction to reduce the muffin top as it extends around to the sides and back. Tummy tucks can be designed to lift the pubic region, but cannot lift the inner thigh. This requires a thigh lift. The anterior thigh is lifted a little, but this is more a side effect than the goal of a tummy tuck. Think of it like Newton's third law, "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." When the belly skin is pulled down, the pubic and anterior thigh skin is lifted up, a little. Greater lifting can be achieved by modifying the procedure, but this is something that needs to be discussed with your surgeon beforesurgery, and not something that you silently expect to happen because you read it online. Be open an honest with your surgeon about what you expect to happen with your procedure. You will have a better experience and more satisfying outcome.
