Sagging lower face, would Ultherapy be the solution? (Photos)

Question

I’m 43 female. I’ve developed this sagging lower face (yeah I know it’s age). I hate it tough. I’ve had fillers in cheeks and lower face and cheeks but it doesn’t really help and they seem to evaporate after a few months and they cost a fortune. I realise it’s too soon for a facelift or lower facelift. I’ve been told it’s not bad enough. I’ve been told Ultherapy only works on 40% of people which is a risk because it’s so expensive. Any advice appreciated.

Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

I had the Ultherapy device in my practice for about 8 years and was careful to qualify its strength and weaknesses to patients.  However, it became my conclusion that despite providing adequate information on the modality, many patients had higher expectations of results than the machine could deliver.  The results do not approximate those of a facelift;  it isn't even close to deserving terminology such as a nonsurgical facelift.  Secondly, Ultherapy is very expensive for the results delivered. Many providers do not have the training, skill, or capability to perform a facelift and may over-promote this device because it could be described as an alternative for facial aging. It really isn't.  For these reasons, I decided to discontinue use of this device and really can't recommend it. Good luck.

We found Ultherapy terribly disappointing at the recommended settings.  We then tried full power with no improvement.  I had the company treat me at full power to make sure it was not due to my technique.  Still no reliable changes.  Some patients thought they noticed some improvement during the initial swelling but I could not quantitate any measurable changes.  I could not in good conscience provide this service to pay off this expensive equipment knowing my patients would not get a consistent reproduceable improvement.  At great financial loss I  sold the machine knowing it would leave this country for Hong Kong.Save your money for when you are ready for a real facelift, or travel and adventure.

Hello and thank you for your question, Ultherapy is best suited for those with mild to moderate laxity. Patients who are concerned with the early signs of aging but are not quite ready for a facelift yet. The ultrasound technology builds and restores collagen in the face, neck and chest. Results can be seen in as early as 3 to 6 months, and can last up to 2 years. Yearly maintenance is recommended. Our office has been very selective with patients and has had success with improving lower face laxity, mild eyebrow lift and eliminating fine lines on the decollete. Hi there,I do believe you would be a good candidate for Ultherapy, however with any and all non-invasive procedures - we must have realistic expectations.Ultherapy is considered the "non-surgical facelift", targetting the same subdermal tissues that are being affected in a surgical facelift. By using ultrasound, it causes small controlled injuries to the deeper tissues in the skin, stimulating new formation of collagen. This stimulation thus creates a lifting effect to the skin. It is a treatment that should be repeated annually and takes anywhere from 3 months to see full results. Though results have been proven to be very successful, it will not remove and or eliminate excess skin, therefore it truly depends on how quickly and how drastic of a change you are looking to achieve.When it comes to tightening, lifting or removing skin - it truly depends on ones skin thickness and structure as we are all different and we all age at different rates. For this reason, many people who are in their 40's can actually be good candidates for an entry level facelift or a minilift. It is a great alternative to a surgical procedure, however I do recommend booking a consultation with a Plastic Surgeon near you to weight-out the best options for your specific needs and concerns.
