As long as the surgical facility is accredited and well-maintained, then it should be okay to have your surgery performed there.
Thanks for this excellent question about safety. Performing a breast augmentation in an office can be a safe procedure if it is being performed in an accredited surgical suite with board-certified anesthesiologists. What I sometimes see and do not recommend with office-based surgery is a procedure being performed in a non-accredited suite by a "cosmetic" surgeon who does not have hospital privileges for the procedure. He or she must then perform it in their office because they have no other choice. Make sure your surgeon is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has hospital privileges in the procedure you are having done.
First and foremost, be sure to research your surgeons andtheir credentials prior to consultation to ensure that you have a Board CertifiedSurgeon performing your surgery. I designed and built my own fully accreditedfacility and operate daily along with a team of dedicated nursing staff and board certifiedanesthesiologist. Infection rates tend to be lower than in hospital as thesefacilities do only cosmetic procedures as appose to varying surgicalprocedures. However, surgery can beperformed safely whether in an accredited facility or hospital. Be sure to be direct with your questions inthis regard during your consultation.
That is a very good questions. Having surgery in a surgeons office should not be unsafe. Standards of care and standards of surgical outpatient surgical facilities are regulate by the state and most important by international standards like the AAAASF that certified surgical facilities all aver the world . The patients should ask the doctors for certifications of surgical facilities as well as Medical Board Certifications.
Breast augmentation in a physician's office/surgery center is acceptable if the following criteria is met:1. the plastic surgeon is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery2. to the surgery center/operating room is accredited by AAAASF 3. the plastic surgeon has hospital privileges to also perform breast augmentation.good luck.Earl Stephenson Jr, MD, D.D.S., FACS
Office-based surgery is very common. The scale and scope of what you plan to have done really determines the type of environment it can be done in. I would definitely look for a board-certified plastic surgeon. They are required as part of the board certification to maintain certain safety standards regardless of where the procedure is performed. It is most important to find a surgeon that you're comfortable with. Also check the accreditation of the facility.Their plenty of doctors who call themselves plastic surgeons or cosmetic surgeons and can only perform procedures in their office because they cannot get credentialed at a hospital. Be wary of those doctors. They are not board certified in plastic surgery. The other factor to consider, is if you have other health related issues. The more of an extensive medical history that you have, the more I would suggest you have your procedure in a hospital setting. The hospital definitely has more infrastructure then in office. However a properly credentialed office and a credentialed surgeon, can perform procedures safely in an office setting.
The operating room should be accredited, and a board certified anesthesiologist should be present.Find a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of breast augmentations each year through every approach to give you the most options. Look for great reviews and great before and after pictures.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
To answer your question, yes, it is safe to have a breast augmentation in a surgical suite given that you are healthy. I would make sure that it is a fully accredited surgical suite with a board certified anesthesiologist and of course, a board certified plastic surgeon before committing. Otherwise, many surgeons use a fully accredited out patient surgery center with board certified anesthesiologists where there is a strict application process to have privileges to use their facility. Both are safe. ac
Thank you for the picture.I can recommend for you to NOT have this at your PS's office if they do not have an OR (operating room) this is highly important and you might want to do further research on his credentials.Dr. Campos
Yes, but make sure your doctor is a BC PS who has an accredited facility. PS regulate themselves and are required to perform procedures in facilities that meet certain standards. Good luck with your surgery.
Clear or yellowish nipple discharge can occur after a breast augmentation procedure and typically goes away over time. If you are concerned about it, it may not be a bad idea to go see your OB to put your mind at ease. Typically clear or yellow fluid is nothing to worry about, but if...
Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is: 1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the abi...
Without an evaluation in person, it is difficult to say what the volume will give you in terms of cup size and to determine if they will be too big for you. A baggy test may give you an approximate cup size when you try them on.
