Will argument/stress cause set back in healing?

I had breast augmentation 2 weeks ago.I got into a heated argument last night and my blood pressure went up.Now I feel this weird pain in my muscle about my right breast. Is this going to cause set backs in my healing? Or possibly cause some complication?

Stress does impede healing.  I encourage my patients to plan their lives to decrease stress around the time of surgery if possible.  In addition, positive thoughts are helpful throughout the surgery process.

While it is unlikely that a single argument will cause issues with healing, overall high stress level and blood pressure could have an impact.  If your blood pressure is chronically high or spikes to high levels frequently, bleeding could occur after surgery, and chronic stress can have an impact on the immune system and healing.  It's best to check with your surgeon for a postop visit, especially if you are having a new pain.Dr. Michelle Spring

Unless your argument became physical in nature, it is unlikely to have any effect on your outcome. If you are worried it is best to let your surgeon examine you.

Thank you for your question.  It is unlikely that a verbal argument would cause any complication that far out from your surgery. I think it would be best if you contacted your plastic surgeon and set up a follow up appointment for him to evaluate you. Good luck

An exam can help ensure nothing is dramatically wrong and will likely provide you with reassurance. An argument can be a tense experience and it is certainly possible that your surgical site was under more internal distress than you might think. Thank you for your question.  It is doubtful that one stressful argument well rate term problems with your healing after breast augmentation.  However it is crucial that you' be in a safe environment and not have continued stress during her healing.  Be sure to see your plastic surgeon.
