I am 3 months p/o silicon thru nipple sub mus My doctor dx me with CC two weeks ago level 2 since it is a bit firmer he also says the fluid is totally normal and to try and extract it as it leaks through my nipple when massaging. I was put on antibiotics for a week per my request and on vitamin E and accolate with massaging and wrapping. Should I be taking the antibiotic for longer? Will a traditional ultra sound machine also help? (PT with access)Does CC always get worse or can it stay level 2?
Answer: Nipple discharge You should show it to your plastic surgeon. I have seen nipple discharge temporarily after breast augmentation that subsides as the swelling goes down. Your plastic surgeon might want to put you on antibiotics to be on the cautious side even though there is no redness at the site.

Answer: Nipple discharge and capsular contracture. Thank you for your picture. If you're having able to discharge and you had your implants placed through the areolar I would continue to follow up with your plastic surgeon. Whether you need antibiotics or not depends on the characteristics of the nipple discharge. Concerning your capsular contracture it's certainly possible for it to get worse it just needs to be monitored by your plastic surgeon.Earl Stephenson, Jr, M.D., DDS, FACS

Answer: I have a yellowish/clear fluid coming from my left nipple when I massage my left breast, is this normal? Clear or yellowish nipple discharge can occur after a breast augmentation procedure and typically goes away over time. If you are concerned about it, it may not be a bad idea to go see your OB to put your mind at ease. Typically clear or yellow fluid is nothing to worry about, but if it's green or bloody you should see your OB. As for capsular contracture, yes, it can get worse or it can stop. Stay in close contact with your surgeon and continue to follow his/her instructions. ac

Answer: Nipple discharge after breast augmentation Nipple discharge can be seen in women with and without implants when you massage or otherwise put pressure on the breasts. Keep your surgeon informed as to how this is coming along. Spontaneous discharge is different matter and is sometimes associated with tumors. If you have this you need to discuss it with your primary doctor, OB-Gyn or a breast surgeon to have it evaluated. With regards to capsular contracture - it is impossible to say exactly how yours will progress. Your breast may get softer, stay the same, or get progressively harder and eventually cause you pain. The massage and Accolate may be helpful. Continue to see your PS regularly and let him or her know if anything gets worse. If the contracture progresses you may end up needing a revision surgery to remove some or all of the capsule. Good luck.Dr. J
