There is no strict limit on lifting after a breast augmentation but my patients self limit due to discomfort.  If your implant is placed below the muscle, the concern is muscular contractions could shift the implant.  Usually waiting 3 weeks allows enough healing internally to prevent implant displacement.

I ask my patients to wait at least three weeks before any heavy lifting.  If they need to lift a baby during the first three weeks, I ask them to keep their elbows at their side to that they are not stretching their pectoralis major muscle.

This is a common question for prospective patients. In general you will likely be advised not to lift more than 10 lbs for 4 weeks after your surgery. You could then start to move to full loads at 6 weeks.This might be tough for you to do given the age of your children, unless you have full time help.

There is no scientific evidence to answer this question, only experienced opinions. I do not place a weight limit on my patients. I tell them they can engage in activities that they are comfortable doing. The patients will tend to self limit. We tend to limit ourselves regarding pain. The important aspect of your situation is the safety of your children when you are lifting them. This is something you will have to test yourself on and determine what help you will need in lifting.

Thank you for the question. Probably in your best interest to wait several more months before proceeding with surgery, unless you have more help available to you. I ask patients to wait 4 to 6 weeks before lifting more than 10 pounds. Also, best to be at your long-term stable weight (if you are not there already) prior to proceeding. Best wishes.

It can be difficult in this situation. Probably at 10 months the child is not strong enough to climb into your arms as opposed to being lifted out of a crib. I usually tell patients to avoid lifting things more than about 10 lbs for 4-6 weeks.

For the first 2-3 weeks after breast augmentation you should limit weights to 2-3 pounds.  Significant heavy weightlifting should be delayed 4-6 weeks after breast augmentation especially if submuscular augmentation has been done.It is helpful if you focus on keeping her elbows against your sides while lifting.
