Hello, I have been feeling insecure about my jawline/recessed jaw lately after learning what it is and how important it is to overall facial appearance. I wanted some opinions on if my chin/jaw affects my appearance and whether it would be worth it to seek some sort of treatment. Thank you. I am 21, 5 7 and 145 lb for reference
Answer: You could benefit from chin implant vs fillers A formal evaluation would be needed to determine the best treatment. There are surgical and non-surgical options to correct this. We can place a chin implant, which is a quick surgical procedure. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, however, so for those patients, we also offer non-surgical chin augmentation with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse, Voluma, BellaFill, and Sculptra are injected into the area to improve the overall appearance of the lower face and balance the jaw and lip harmony. We use cannula injections to meticulously contour and project the chin, soften the chin along the jawline, and improve the chin crease. Implants are a great option once you are ready for permanent chin enhancement. I suggest getting a consultation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert, or an aesthetic facial plastic surgeon like Dr. Donald Groves; we are both located right here in Los Angeles. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Chin enhancement Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs. In your situation, the chin projection is very close to perfect. In general, the true profile view is used for analysis, but it represents an angle that we see very rarely. The oblique view, or semi-profile view, as well as the front view, represent the angles where we typically interact with others and take photographs. In the oblique view, the width of the chin contributes to the perception of projection. Since it’s not possible to evaluate it in the photographs you have submitted, it may or may not appear recessed. I generally advise a consultation using computer imaging and simulation in 3D for chin augmentation. This helps to better understand the potential impact from a variety of angles and the degree of change that would seem suitable. Most of the time, for small augmentations, injectable fillers represent a better solution. They also offer the option of an easily reversible modality to examine your facial appearance with enhanced chin projection.

Answer: Chin projection I think that your chin position is in balance with the rest of your face. I would recommend chin and jawline liposuction to improve your cervicalmental angle. Kybella treatment is another option.

Answer: Chin implant Your chin is recessed and you would benefit from a chin implant. This is done intra-orally under general anesthesia, takes about 1 hour to perform and costs $4,000. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Yes, but Yes, you could have a chin implant and it would bring your chin forwards. However, you are very attractive and there is simply no need.
