Thank you for your question. Two weeks following chin implant surgery, the lower part of the face is swollen and distorted, which has very little to do with the final result. This swelling unfortunately creates a strong perception of imbalance. As the swelling decreases, you will see a very different shape emerging.

If a small implant has been used, it is quite likely that it will produce a discreet change and balance well with the rest of your facial features. I suggest discussing your concerns with your surgeon. In general, it takes several months for the swelling to attenuate to a degree that makes it easier to appreciate what the end result is likely to become.

My experience with patients who have traveled abroad for facial implants is that the implants are not secured with bone screws. Several of the implants that I have removed had migrated from their original position. In addition, they all seem to have the same oblong design. I would recommend a CT scan to evaluate the position of the implant.
