Can I continue getting professional back and neck massages after facial and lip fillers?

I'm having some Restylane injected around mouth/nose and lips. I am thinking about maybe a little filler in my cheeks as well. I have to be face down on the massage table... Is this going to be an issue?

There is no reason you cannot get massaging after filler injections. I would wait 24-72 hours (some say longer) before a lot of pressure is placed on your face however.  Best, Dr. Emer.

treated area. Although massage to other areas of your body is ok, it may be best
to reschedule your appointment.

Honestly if you position your face well during the massage you are going to put minimal pressure on your mouth, nose and lips.  The biggest risk is with fillers around the cheek bones which could sustain significant pressure with face positioning.  If you feel you really need the benefit of the massage I vote for proceeding carefully. Hello Amyjoelynn,If the first week or so, the injected fillers remain mobile.  So with enough force, you can push them around a little bit.  Because of this, if you were laying flat on your face and putting pressure on the areas injected, it can change your result.  I would recommend you wait at least 1 week and preferably 2 before you have a prolonged period of laying on your face.  You should ask your surgeon if he or she has any other comments about this, but better safe than sorry since those fillers can be there for almost a year.  I hope this helps and good luck.

Although every physician has her or his own 'rules' for after filler injection, I ask patients to wait two weeks after filler before any other facial treatments.  Wearing tight swim goggles or pressing your face into the open ring of a massage table wont change your ultimate results, but may increase the immediate swelling you see after treatment.  I generally recommend waiting two weeks for swim goggles and a week after for a massage table 'hole'.  I hope this answer was helpful.  Best of luck!

It is highly recommended that manipulation of the face remains at a minimum for about 2 week after injection of fillers to the face. Other parts of the body can be massaged without any issue, however you may be placed in a certain position that would cause an increased pressure onto the face. Caution is recommended.

It's best not to apply any significant pressure to the areas treated with fillers such as Restylane for at least a week after getting the procedure done.  I agree with the other physician here - reschedule the massage.
