Filler in my nasolabial folds ay 32 years?

Question

I ask to my dermatologist if i can use restiline in my premature nasolabial folds, And she said better to wait until i have 35 years old because if i start now at 32 years old, i will need much more at my 40's. Is that true?? Should i wait until my 35 yeats??

Thank you for sharing your question. The use of fillers are great for treating the "smile lines" for adults of any age. This treatment modality will not cause the face to age faster or require more filler at an earlier age. Sometimes, it is appropriate to fill the cheeks which will pull up the skin near the nose, diminishing the nasolabial folds. Filler is fine at any age.  In fact, fillers have been extensively studied to increase collagen production in the areas injected.  So, over time, fillers tend to have a regenerative effect where patients see longer term improvements rather than what you were told.  Seek out an expert opinion from an expert physician in your area.

Knowledge of the aging process tells us that people, and women in particular, begin to lose skeleton and superficial fat as early as 20, which is why the nasolabial folds develop.   Volume replacement with fillers should begin when this becomes a visible problem, so whatever age you can see the aging process begin to effect your appearance is the age you should begin.

If you find that your nasolabial folds are too deep, you can have filler injected to soften the lines.  You may require filler to lift your cheeks which would help the nasolabial folds as well.  You may require less filler as you age.  You should seek another dermatologist who can treat you.

Thank you for your question.  I would advise seeking a second opinion, there are many instance where filler in your early 30's can make dramatic differences and lead to you requiring less volume and treatments as you age.  Without seeing pictures it is difficult to tell you what you need, but more than likely a filler like Voluma into your mid face would be preferable to filling your nasolabial folds.  Regards, Dr. Matt Elias

I totally disagree with your first consultation.  If you have an indentation that can be filled and look better then it can be done. Unlike surgeries and permanent fillers, HA fillers like resylane burn no bridges,
