I have my breast aug surgery scheduled for February and my suregeon recommended IV sedation since I’m thin and he thinks it would be a better option for me. My biggest worry from what I have read about IV sedation is that it’s harder to go under the muscle. Why?? Are there any other complications or issues with IV sedation for a breast aug?
Answer: IV Sedation for breast augmentation Dear michellecanete, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Breast implants I i or refer general anesthesia with an anesthesiologist for breast augmentation. Intravenous sedation is fine as well but I would prefer that it be administered and monitored by an anesthesiologist or anesthetist.

Answer: Anesthesia General anesthesia is typically recommended for breast augmentation surgery. I'm not sure why IV sedation would be safer because you're thin. I encourage you to speak to your surgeon about your concerns. Be sure to check if your surgeon is board certified and what exactly would happen if a complication would occur during your procedure.

Answer: IV Sedation for breast augmentation - Are there complications / issues associated with this? Great question! What first comes to mind is - Is your surgeon a Am boarded Plastic Surgeon? Seems the vast majority of boarded PSs would ONLY recommend general anesthesia with local muscle infiltration. Plus doing a "slender" (no posted photos!!) patient higher complication risk intraoperatively. IE puncture into lung cavity! Also, if your chosen surgeon is not boarded in Plastic Surgery (Not meaning Cosmetic Surgery only Plastic Surgery!) then he/she might not have general anesthesia privileges in office surgery to do general anesthesia.... Best to research why IV sedation, what are your surgeon's qualifications??? Best safe out there!
