Hi, I got lip fillers 7 weeks ago. After day 3 my lips started to get red, hot and I felt so much pain and tingles. I saw my doctor and I took 7 days prednisone, no change. My doctor injected Hyaluronidase, but my lips are still swelling. Now I take antibiotics and anti histamine pills. They hurt, the bottom lip is swelling and it’s red. Please help me as my doctor told me that he doesn’t know what I have, in 7 years i got 6 ml of acid in my lips but never had reactions.
Answer: Juvederm Although rare, this type of reaction can occur. It is caused by the biofilm (bacteria that get suck in the gel of the Juvederm) that proliferates sometimes weeks after the injection of the material. This causes an inflammatory reaction with symptoms as you described. I would recommend that you continue the treatment set up by the doctor. Steroids, antibiotics, dissolving of the product and warm compresses to increase the blood flow to the is appropriate. Good luck

Answer: Side Effects after Juvederm Treatment Thank you for your question and I am sorry you are dealing with these side effects after your filler treatment. While allergic reactions to Juvederm are extremely rare, they can occur. In your case, I recommend you continue to see your doctor or another board-certified dermatologist for ongoing treatment until the side effects resolve completely. Usually several sessions with hyaluronidase are needed to fully dissolve the filler. If you decide to undergo other treatments, it is imperative to work with an experienced injector who can take the necessary steps to reduce your risk of another reaction.

Answer: What could be the cause of severe allergic reaction to Juvederm? A severe allergic reaction to Juvederm or any dermal filler is rare but can occur. Possible causes of such reactions may include:1.) Allergic Sensitivity: Some individuals may have a heightened sensitivity or allergy to one or more components of the filler, such as hyaluronic acid or lidocaine.2.) Contamination: Contaminated or improperly stored Juvederm can lead to adverse reactions.3.) Injection Technique: If the injection is performed incorrectly or in an unsanitary environment, it can increase the risk of complications.4.) Individual Factors: Individual factors like a person's immune system, history of allergies, or previous reactions to dermal fillers can influence the likelihood of an allergic reaction.5.) Cross-Contamination: The use of contaminated needles, syringes, or improper sterilization procedures can introduce bacteria and cause reactions. If you suspect you're experiencing a severe allergic reaction to Juvederm, seek immediate medical attention. It's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional who can diagnose and treat the reaction appropriately. They may recommend antihistamines, corticosteroids, or other treatments to manage the symptoms and alleviate the reaction.
