What could be the cause of severe allergic reaction to Juvederm? (Photos)

Although rare, this type of reaction can occur.  It is caused by the biofilm (bacteria that get suck in the gel of the Juvederm) that proliferates sometimes weeks after the injection of the material.  This causes an inflammatory reaction with symptoms as you described.  I would recommend that you continue the treatment set up by the doctor.  Steroids, antibiotics, dissolving of the product and warm compresses to increase the blood flow to the is appropriate.  Good luck

This can rarely happen, specially if big doses gets injected.
It happens die to activation  of some inflammatory cascades. If you have ongoing issues perhaps you need to consider desolving the filler.

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry that you are experiencing this reaction.
Reactions to dermal filler like what you have happening are often the result of a granulomatous reaction caused by bio-films.  Biofilms occur when a small amount of bacteria get trapped with in the gel matrix of the filler and create an immune reaction in the surrounding tissue.  The result can be swelling and nodule formation.
The protocols for dealing with this type of reaction are a combination of Hyaluronidase to dissolve the filler and disrupt or open up the biofilm, a combination of antibiotics, oral and sometime steroid injections and antihistamines to help reduce the swelling.  This can be a stubborn problem that requires more than one session to break down the nodules.
I would suggest you continue to see your doctor for further treatments or be referred to an experienced injector who can continue to treat you.
