What are the risks of liposuction on the central buttocks?

Liposuction of this area can be done with excellent technique, but overall skin laxity and patient expectations must be realistic.

Central buttocks do just fine and especially when done under local with the micro canulas and a little Bodytite for good measure. But you need to see a doc who really knows what they are doing for the best results.

Fay I appreciate your confusion, however your plastic surgeon is right. Liposuction of the central buttocks  is an extremely difficult area to address because of the higher than usual incidence of possible skin irregularities. Liposuction of the periphery of the buttocks, lower posterior thighs and lower back, is fairly common and a nice tool to make the buttocks appear larger. If liposuction of your central buttocks is deemed necessary, it is vitally important to use very small cannulas and address the surgery in the most conservative manner. buttocks can be a tricky area for liposuction. While there is always a chance for contour irregularities with liposuction, someone who takes their time and uses the appropriate sized cannulas should give you a superb result.I have all my patients wear compression garments and I use multiple sized cannulas to feather out the result. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Liposuction of the central buttocks may be performed if you are willing to accept the risk of contour irregularities. (No surgeon can guarantee that they can avoid complications.) While your question is a natural one I would offer great caution before jumping into any central buttock liposuction. In the very early days of liposuction this was done with some frequency, and we learned very quickly that we could create problems in that zone. The skin of the buttock is different than most of our body. From childhood our buttock takes lots of trauma falling on it as a baby and it takes that beating well without much bruising, pain, or problem. That is because we have many septi and fibrous connections of the skin to the underlying muscles. These connections are one of the reason we might see a bit more cellulite and dimpling in the buttocks than say our abdomen. All these connections help support the buttock so it doesn't drop to much with age. If we break up too many of those connections or remove too much fat then the buttock can droop prematurely. It doesn't mean some subtle and very controlled liposuction can't be done, it can as long as it's conservative, and done with great experience. Be sure someone has real experience in this area and can guide you appropriately. Best wishes.

Liposuction of the central part of the buttock is not recommended as it can lead to a very unattractive flattening of the buttocks.
