In the hands of a board certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience in rhinoplasty (very important) you can expect predictable results and minimal conmplications. In our practice, we perform rhinoplasties on patients in their 70's! If you are in good health, you would be considered a potential candidate for correction.
Complications are unusual but include: Bleeding, infection, scarring, residual deformity, nasal airway obstruction, anesthesia problems, nasal septal perforation, prolonged postoperative pain and / or swelling.

The biggest risk is residual hump. Then there is over resection that can leave a poly beak deformity. If the resection causes an open sky deformity then the nasal bones must be fractured and moved inward to close the open sky deformity. This can lead to prolonged bruising and can actually close off the internal valve portions of your airway. The nasal bones can also move in an assymetrical way, leaving the nose crooked. Bleeding and infection are also much less common complications. All these risks can be mitigated in some way by a skilled rhinoplasty surgeon. But even in the best of hands, the revision rate for rhinoplasty is at least 10%.
