I'm 18 and my chin is just really long I feel like. I hate it. I know it doesn't look that bad but when I smile it looks really long and bad. What procedures or surgery can I get to shave it down or reshape? And what's the cheapest cost. I only have like 4k? Do I need chin reduction
Answer: Reduction genioplasty The vertical length of your chin can be reduced with a reduction genioplasty. Depending on the characteristics of each case, the lower chin can be shaved or a wedge of bone can be removed. In addition, the projection can remain the same or be altered at the same time. You would need a Facetime consultation to give you more recommendations.

Answer: Jaw Contouring (Chin Reduction) Hello, hope you are well. Thank you for submitting your photo and questions! An elongated or over-projected chin is generally caused by the shape of the underlying bone. I perform a minimally invasive technique to re-contour this aspect of the mandible (chin bone) which is performed through a small incision inside the mouth. The bone is shaved down--it does not need to be sawed, plated or screwed. The surgery is precise, performed under general anesthesia, very low risk, and leaves no visible scars. Best,Dr. Tower

Answer: Having a large mandible Most people seeking change of their facial aesthetics, have the opposite problem with the mandible that is small and lacking in projection. While any extreme is undesirable, having a mandible that is of good size is generally far better than the alternative. A larger mandible creates the appearance of someone with authority, this allows individuals to not develop a premature double chin, allows individuals to maintain good, jawline definition, and protects from premature jowls. Reducing the mandible is possible. The procedure usually has a soft tissue and skeletal component. Some plastic surgeons may have experience with chin reduction but from what I see it’s more commonly performed by oral surgeons. To get an assessment and better understanding of treatment options I suggest contacting both plastic surgeons and oral surgeons in your community. It’s never a bad idea to have a few consultations to get confirmation of the best treatment and help in selecting the best provider for your needs. Permanently changing your facial appearance is a decision that should be taken seriously and the general default option should be to not have surgical intervention until the benefit of the procedure clearly outweighs all the downsides. When in doubt, slow down weight and consider scheduling a few more consultations. Price will vary depending on multiple variables. Eventually, each provider will have their own set fee and there may be additional fees for facilities and anesthesia. Best, Matt hagstrom, MD
