I recently lost weight (75lbs) and my breasts didn’t not follow suit, my band size went down from a 48 to a 38/40, but cup size did not change in volume per se, I was at the time a triple d but now I’m currently a 38i/40h depending on the brand of bra. I’ve hit sort of plateau in weight loss and I know that most of it is skin and some of it is a few pounds left to go. However my question is I don’t think my breasts are going to shrink as I hoped they would. Would I qualify for a reduction & lift?

Answer: Breast Reduction Thank you for your question and uploading those beautiful photos! A breast reduction and lift is a very common and effective procedure for women with overly large breasts, even women who are actively losing weight. Most surgeons would prefer that your weight be relatively stable before doing this procedure so that you can get the best result possible and your result will last longer. However, if your weight has plateaued this could be a great time to have this procedure done and in some patients this can even jump start more weight loss because it may make it easier to exercise comfortably and can give you some confidence! Make sure to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to make sure this is a good treatment plan for you at this time. Good luck!

Answer: Possibly Start with making a medical consult with your choice of plastic surgeon, also making sure they take your insurance. Insurance uses something called a Schnur scale that translates into the amount of grams required to be removed from each breast to qualify for insurance coverage. This number is derived from your height and weight.

Answer: Would I qualify at this stage (40H cup)? Dear Fantastic2273, Thank you for your question and photos. First, I would like to congratulate you on your weight loss! While it is difficult to tell for sure without an in-person consultation, from looking the photos you provided, you may benefit from a breast reduction surgery. This may reduce the size and weight of your breasts while placing the nipples in a more youthful position on the breast mound. You may potentially consider this once you have reached your weight loss goal and are stable at that weight for a few months. Ideally, you may consider reaching a BMI (body mass index) under 40, depending on your health conditions. I suggest that you schedule an in-person or virtual consultation with a board-certified Plastic Surgeon to talk about your specific goals and to develop a plan to best achieve them. Good luck and stay safe!
