Skin on the tip of my nose is thinned out from filler - can I still have a rhinoplasty done?

I haven't seen a case where having nose fillers dissolved precluded a rhinoplasty from being done. If the dissection stays right on the cartilage, everything should be fine. However, it's important to see a rhinoplasty expert for consultation.

Many people get injectable fillers in their nose and have them dissolved before rhinoplasty surgery. When this has been the case, we have not met anybody who has had significantly thinned nasal skin. At the time of rhinoplasty, the skin flap is off the tip and if the skin is very thin it could be injured. There is no procedure to increase the thickness of the skin. However, a rhinoplasty can most likely be done with careful dissection.

If HA filler (Juvaderm, Bellotero, Restylane) is used for your tip injection it i very likely that tip surgery can be done withpout serious concerns. However, only on the basis of in person consultation, an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon can give you streight answer. Good luck.

Hello and thank you for your question. It is safe to do rhinoplasty in patient’s with thin tip skin. I usually place a mastoid fascia tip graft to help camouflage thin skin. With good surgical technique, you could likely have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

It really depends on which filler was used. Most likely the injector used a hyaluronic acid filler, which normally dissolves by 6 months. If that is the case then you should be able to have a rhinoplasty without any concerns. Hope that helps!

Much more information is needed such as a full set of facial photographs from all angles to make sure you're a candidate for a rhinoplasty. As long as the filler has been dissolved, it shouldn't be any problems.
