How could rhinoplasty be done with minimal discomfort? (Photos)

Question

Looking to get this done with minimal discomfort. Need more information on how this could be done. I do have anxiety which interferes with breathing sometimes as well as a back injury. Otherwise healthy.

Rhinoplasty is not typically terribly painful. It’s really more a sense of discomfort. You don’t need that much of a change in your nose. A little smaller and a bit shorter

Hi brookiesnow773! A rhinoplasty in my opinion is one of the most difficult procedures to perform. The skill, artistry, and technique of the surgeon makes all the difference. In my practice, I utilize piezosurgery. Piezosurgery is a more gentle technique that allows for greater precision. Less bruising and swelling is common with Piezosurgery. In a typical rhinoplasty, a hammer and chisel technique is performed leading to more inadvertent fractures. I hope this was helpful!

There is no such thing as an easy surgery. There are no guarantees. There are lots of recipes out there for a successful result as well!
Having said that, you need to work with someone, trust the process. A good surgeon who knows their anatomy can navigate the surgery in efficient ways to avoid excessive bruising and prolonged recovery. 
My approach is a closed rhinoplasty where we rearrange the internal anatomy, rotate the tip up by removing a minimal amount from the lower septum and allowing the nose to drop and rotate. The tip work then proceeds in a similar fashion. If you do this in correct planes your recovery should be smooth and leaves most of your native anatomy intact. 
The need for repositioning and narrowing the bones of the nose also determines bruising and pain. 
The key surgical principles are to know your anatomy and to design a plan to cater to your needs. 
Having said all this, there are no guarantees. So go with a surgeon that you trust!

You are a great candidate for rhinoplasty. For minimal bruising, swelling, and discomfort I highly recommend you an open technique called Piezo. This is a new form of rhinoplasty surgery that avoids the hammer and chisel technique to shape the nasal bone. Instead, we use ultrasonic waves without damaging soft tissue and nerves. Swelling, bruising, and pain are minimal. Some patients do not experience any side effects other than some swelling which subsides shortly after the surgery. Good luck.

If you use a surgeon who routinely places nasal packing, that can be painful. When there is no packing, there is little pain. Consider consulting with several reputable rhinoplasty specialists who offer computer imaging so you could see what to expect. Good luck! Dr Joseph

A rhinoplasty unfortunately requires some discomfort as there is major re-structuring of the nose to improve form and function. You should find an experienced surgeon who has a good evidence based pain control regimen after your nasal surgery.

A rhinoplasty is relatively tolerated very well by patients as far as post operative pain is concerned. However, surgeons realize that everyone's pain tolerance varies.

In my experience, my post operative pain regimen keeps patients pain to no pain to very minimal pain.

I recommend discussing how your surgeon manages pain after this procedure.

Based on the photos, you are a great candidate for rhinoplasty. The nasal tip could be made shorter and more defined. It would also be more supported so it doesn't droop. The surgery is usually not painful - most patients don't even take their pain meds - it's more of a stuffy feeling. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation.

Rhinoplasty and recovery after rhinoplasty are not very painfull. Everybody gets swelling and rakoon eyes as result of osteotomies, but procedure and recovery are not uncomfortable at all. If you work from home, you can go back to work day after surgery. Disscuss this issue with your surgeon and his staff before surgery. Good luck.

Hi, you need to have tipplasty or rhinoplasty surgery. You have increased nasal projection and droopy nasal tip. If there is no need for osteotomy at your nasal bone, tipplasty will be sufficient and your surgery will take a shorter time and the healing process will be more comfortable. Of course, if you have intranasal septum deviation, it should be corrected at both surgeries (tipplasty or rhinoplasty).
