When can I start using topical active ingredients post rhinoplasty?

Question

How long post rhinoplasty do I have to wait before I can resume skincare? I'll be avoiding my nose and incisions, just wanting to apply to rest of my face/neck. Main skincare I'm enquiring about includes topical tretinoin (0.05%), vitamin C, glycolic acid/enoxolone exfoliant, other somewhat active anti-ageing ingredients.

Hello! Thank you for your question. As far as I can understand from your question we will not recommend any treatment for your nose until 1 year post op. It would be better to ask about your surgeon. Although, you may do rest of your face after your edema is gone. Best Regards!

I would recommend waiting about 2 weeks after surgery to let the swelling go down then consider using facial creams at that time. Now, the ideal time to start using topical treatments, like isotretinoin is after six or eight weeks after surgery, while the inflammation of the skin as a result of the surgery ends. But it is always a good idea to speak to your surgeon and get his blessing.

Hello! Great question. I would avoid anything on or near the nose for at least 3 weeks post-procedure. As for the neck and remainder of the face, waiting 2 weeks should be sufficient. Products like tretinoin, as you know, can be inflammatory, and we wouldn't want to cause any more swelling than necessary. Check with your doctor for sure but that's my suggestion. Hope that helps!
