I’m interested in doing Rhinoplasty but I’m concern about the maintenance it needs. Will I still be able to do water diving with googles and heavy lifting exercises at ease once they are recovered?

Yes, once healed you will be able to return to all your normal activities. The timing of the return to some of these activities will depend on how much you have done to your nose, and your rhinoplasty surgeons' recommendations. All the best.

And that includes water diving with goggles and heavy exercise. The nasal skeleton is fairly immobilized between 10 and 20 days after rhinoplasty. Goggles made this place some nasal swelling, however, that would not lead to any permanent changes to your results. Hope this helps! Dr Joseph

Hi there,The recovery after rhinoplasty will last like 15 days, however we dont recommend immediate heavy lifting or scuba diving following rhinoplasty after 15 days. This is much more related with sudden blood circulation changes with effort and pressures. Following 1 month recovery, with a typical rhinoplasty surgery you are free to do these two sports.

It is not recommended to do water diving and heavy lifting exercises at least for 8 weeks post-op. Please keep in mind that each body heals and recover differently, so you may need more time depending on your case.

Yes you can do divining and heavy exercises after rhinoplasty. However, you need to wait for at least a month after the surgery in order to avoid swelling of your nose which might impact the result of your surgery.

In general, return to fitness following rhinoplasty has very few restrictions and they are normally centred on contact sports. These are the situations where the nose can be injured whether it has been operated on or not.

Breathing through the nose is often improved following rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty so you may find that fitness is facilitated. The important thing to bear in mind is to avoid direct injuries to the nose. Diving with goggles does not count as a direct injury to the nose as the main pressure is around the eyes.

Resumption of strenuous activities post rhinoplasty: you should be able to resume any and all strenuous sports and activities post rhinoplasty as long as you give a sufficient amount of time for the nose to heal. The amount of time needed depends on the extent of surgery performed. For a typical rhinoplasty with closed technique, a month is probably enough for most things. for open rhinoplasty perhaps another week or two beyond that is advisable. for patients undergoing septorhinoplasty 2 months for less strenuous activities but perhaps a full three months for heavy weight lifting, diving, and other contact sports would be advisable. If someone has a condition that leads to slow or unusual healing additional time may be required in their particular instance.
