How successful is Accutane to thin out nose skin for a rhinoplasty?

I would like a second opinion: My doctor recommended me to use use Accutane to thin out my nose before my rhinoplasty and was wondering if it will actually work I am close to finishing my second month and see little to no difference. Not sure how much it’s suppose to thin out?

After using for 6 months as non-stop, we expect to thin skin out by %15 - %20. 1 month after stopping Accutane, the surgery can be done.

There is no evidence that it will thin your skin. Further, this is a drug with serious side effects, and should not be used for something other than recalcitrant or severe acne. You should see another surgeon.

Accutane is an acne medicine that is very difficult to obtain because of some risks associated with it. I have never heard of it being used to thin out nasal skin. Your surgeon’s rationale may be that it dries up all the oil glands. I doubt it will do much.
