My main issue with my nose is how it looks when I'm smiling--the downward curve of the bridge gets way more pronounced, the tip droops, and my nostrils move way up, creating a hook nose. Will a rhinoplasty be able to minimize this effect? Would it be possible through a closed rhinoplasty, or would my nostrils need reshaping too?
Answer: Rhinoplasty for dynamic droopiness Hi there,The droopness during smiling is caused by hyperactive muscles and ligaments. This results the bridge to be more apparent. Since the ligaments and muscles are preserved with closed rhinoplasties it is more likely not get fixed this phenomenon with closed rhinoplasty. Open rhinoplasty will work best for this.Bye.

Answer: Can rhinoplasty fix a drooping tip Can rhinoplasty fix a drooping tip ?One of the main functions of rhinoplasty is to elevate a drooping tip. In most people when smiling the tip droops because of muscular connections between the tip and other structures around the lip. Interestingly your nose tip does not really droop.. you have a rather high angle between the tip of the nose and the lip. What makes it look like it’s drooping when you smile is the prominence of the area above the tip called the Supra tip. Trimming that area will eliminate the appearance of a droop. You can test this yourself by taking photos of your profile, then printing them then erasing the area or blacking out the area above the tip that bulges outward suddenly your tip will look like it points up

Answer: Rhinoplasty for tip droop... Rhinoplasty can create a tip structure that is stronger so it won't droop as much. The bump can be taken down to create a nice side profile. We usually do the procedure open, but the nostrils wouldn't have to be changed. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation.

Answer: Rhinoplasty You are a good candidate for a rhinoplasty. Your bridge needs to be lowered and your tip raised. Raising the tip is simple but works better if the bridge is lowered.

Answer: Can rhinoplasty fix my dynamic tip droop? The areas that concern you can be realistically improved. Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on limited photos without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best surgery. Natural appearing results need to be individualized and what is appropriate for one patient is not necessarily the best for someone else. I would suggest that you find a surgeon certified by the American Board of American Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, M.D., FACS La Jolla, California
