Do I need revision rhinoplasty? Or is this swelling? (Photo)

Question

I am 9 months post op, and I've noticed that the left side of my nose is uneven. My surgeon lowered the bridge of my nose, but it looks crooked. Is this still swelling or should I ask them to correct the left nasal bone to be even with the right side?

Hi @Phenomenal451973! Swelling after a rhinoplasty can last up to 1 year. I would wait the full 12 months and if you are still not satisfied, I would consider a revision rhinoplasty. Best of luck!

You need to wait 12-18 months for swelling to fully subside. I would definitely go see your surgeon and ask for guidance including potential steroid injections. You should see an actual plastic surgeon (trained in plastic surgery residency and ideally aesthetic plastic fellowship) who specializes in rhinoplasty. Best of luck.

Nine months sounds like a long time, But a slight asymmetry on front view May in fact get better with time. An examination would be necessary to determine whether this is swelling or cartilage. Sit tight for another few months and consider reasking your question at the anniversary of your surgery. I hope this is helpful. Doctor Joseph

Hi there! At 9 months, there is still time for swelling to resolve. It can take 12-15 months in some patients to work itself out. Once the swelling resolves, any asymmetries left may need to be fixed surgically. The front view takes longer to finalize than the profile. I would continue to follow-up with your surgeon. Taping can help with swelling. Once the proper amount of time elapses, a possible revision can be addressed. Hope this helps!
