Do not worry, all you are experiencing is completely normal. It can take up to 2 weeks for the filler to flatten out and for swelling to subside so I would suggest just trying to be patient until that time. If after 2 weeks you find that you are still unhappy, make a follow up appointment with your injector. They look beautiful and as soon as the swelling goes down I Am sure you will be very happy. Everyones first time getting lip injections can be very scary if they do not know the stages they will go through, so we try to make sure our patients are very clear on knowing to wait 2 weeks before worrying too much. Sleeping with your head elevated can help as well as icing consistently.

Uneven swelling after any filler may indicate the presence of a bruise.  It is recommended to ice for 24 to 48hrs and take an antiinflammatory to help wt the swelling.  Exsercise and alcohol will actually increase the swelling so abstain from both. It would be best to give it 2 weeks for things to settle down and then meet wt your injector to figure out the need for more filler.  Hope this information is helpful to you.  Just try to be patient.

The swelling you are experiencing is very normal and is most likely that on top of swelling your experiencing some bruising in your right upper lip. It will take up to two weeks for the filler to achieve its final state. If you still have concerns at that point, I would follow-up with your injector. At the mean time I do advise for you to ice and sleep elevated, avoiding any blood thinners as well which can cause even more swelling. 

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  I am sorry to hear of your difficulties after filler placement but rest assured these symptoms will all get better over the next 10 days.  It often takes up to 2 weeks for fillers to soften and the tissues to appear more natural.  In the meantime try reducing the swelling by using cold compresses to your lips and elevating your head at night with a couple of extra pillows behind your back.  You may want to also consider using Arnica Montana and bromelain as supplements.  Hang in there!

Thank you for your question! Swelling after lip filler is completely normal, and sometimes there may be more swelling on one side than the other. Swelling is usually more apparent the next day or 2 days later. Bruising or a hematoma can form which may contribute to the appearance of greater swelling on the right upper lip as seen in your photos. This should resolve and the lips should become more even over the next 2 weeks. Please follow up with your injector if you are still concerned after this time.

Swelling after any lip filler is part of the journey to get to beautiful, fuller lips.  However, if you were my patient I would ask you to come into our office just to make sure everything is going as planned.  Other than ice, be sure not to exercise  for at least 48 hrs, drink alcohol or eat salty foods because that will only add to your swelling.

We recommend you stay in close contact with your provider and follow-up with them if needed. Swelling after lip filler is very common and can occur slightly delayed. We recommend you continue icing and keep your head elevated for the first 2-3 days. The swelling should then start to improve, with your final result settling out by around 2 weeks after treatment. If you have persistent concerns then or your swelling worsens or fails to improve before then, you should seek follow-up with your provider sooner. 

be patient, It should be fine. It is most likely bleeding that has happened. Especially since you mentioned that it is painful. this tells me that you have formed a hematoma and soon it shows as bruise. give it a few days. It should not get worse but better over time. 

This late swelling can sometimes happen.  I find it a higher risk with juvederm as it attracts more fluid than Restylane products do.  Use cold compresses and keep your head elevated, which will help.  A NSAID, like Motrin, can help wtih some of the inflammation.  Prior to injections avoid alcoholic beverages, aspirin, motrin and various supplements.  Alastin Nectar can be used a few weeks in advance for those that are easy bruisers and it boosts the tissue levels of Arnica in the areas applied to reduce inflammation, bruising, and swelling with procedures.  I think it will be resolved by a couple of weeks.  Dilute amounts of enzyme can "sculpt" or fine tune the results if needed.  IPL can reduce bruising once it has occured.  Be mindful the upper lips should typically not be the same size as the lowers.  In fact, they should be half to 2/3rds the size of the lowers for ideal lip aesthetics.  Best regards.
