Neck looking worse than before surgery. Is this normal? (photo)

Question

Had smas, forehead and neck lift. 2 days shy from 2 months post-op. As long as I keep my head looking down then Its fine. This is the result the second I look up or tilted my head enough to take a zip of water. Emailed my surgeon and was told that it’s just muscle movement while it’s healing. I do feel that it has gotten worst instead of better. Am I just being paranoid? Is this normal? Should I not worry yet?

Thank you for your question; After two months after the surgery I believe this deformity is more noticeable than before because the scar tissue that forms after the surgery. Normally this condition gets better after the third month and if it doesn’t I will go back with your doctor for a follow up

The fat underneath the neck skin is frequently contoured during a neck lift in order to sharpen and define the jawline and improve the neck contour. Enough fat should be left on the under surface of the neck skin so that it acts as a cover/camouflage of the platysma muscle. If too much fat is removed, the platysma muscle may be visible underneath the skin. Give additional time, 3-4 months,  to allow the healing to mature and revisit the issue with your plastic surgeon.

I am not liking what you are showing in these photos.  I would go back to your surgeon and ask them what is going on .  Its not normal for the neck to look worse after surgery so this needs to be addressed.

Did your surgeon perform neck liposuction during your face lift?. I strongly advice to discuss this with your surgeon, as it could be a side effect from liposuction.
