I had a SMAS facelift about 2 months ago, Now the hair that was my sideburns (female) is now in and on my ears. What can I do..does this always happen? Thank you,
Answer: Correction of pre-auricular incision Hair has nothing to do in front and inside of female ear! You should ask your surgeon about it and demand to be corrected. It can be removed with laser (if dark) but surgical correction with rotation of skin flap so that your hair ends up in temple, where it belongs, is a better solution. Second opinion consultation with an expert board certified plastic surgeon is recommended as well. Good luck.

Answer: Hairline displacement after facelift Thank you for your question. Want you are describing is not a common event in facelift surgery but can be related to the technique used for placement of the scar. Some surgeons feel that positioning the scar slightly over the contour of the ear leads to diminished scar visibility. It is possible that if there was more skin laxity than anticipated, the side burn skin has advanced more than expected and has led to the problem that you are describing. It is merely a guess and you should discuss this in more detail with your surgeon. The typical solution for a situation like this would be to use electrolysis and clear the hair that grows over the ear. This is a definitive solution and you should discuss with your surgeon the interval that they recommend before such treatment.

Answer: Hairline Thank you for the question. I am sorry to hear your hairline was change after a face lift. The planning of the surgery has to be done with my patients before surgery to know where the hair line will be after surgery. You can do permanent hair removal to correct the problem.
