Hi L. Juvederm can often cause swelling like this for a week or more. If the product still seems lumpy after 2 full weeks, then contact your injector or another to talk about having it dissolved with Hyaluronidase. To see an example of a Juvederm reversal with Hyaluronidase, click on the link below.
Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. Because of the thin nature of the lips it is common to experience a fair amount of swelling after filler placement. Assymtrical swelling is common if asymmetrical amounts of filler was placed. That said your picture appears to demonstrate that the white lump is in fact filler material and is unlikely to fully soften and resolve to improve your result. Best to allow a full two weeks of maturation time but if it remains have your injector dissolve the excess filler with hyaluronidase. Hope this helps.
I recommend that you wait a full two weeks after injection before taking further action. It can take that long for swelling to resolve and lumps that you feel to soften and settle. If you still have concerns at that point you can return to your injector and have the product dissolved with hyaluronidase if desired.
I would wait 10 days to two weeks before making a judgment. At that time if there is still a bump it could be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Discuss your concerns with your injector.
What you may be experiencing is a lump of filler product. Bruising is usually purple. Best to be seen in person. Sometimes early on it can be massaged away.
Hi,Thank you for your question and your photos. Swelling, bruising and nodule formation are not uncommon after fillers. They usually disappear by themselves or with message, taking up to a week or 2 to disappear, although sometimes longer.. Please speak to your doctor about message. This does not look like bruising, since it does not have the typical bluish appearance.Good Luck,Beverly Friedlander, MD
Thank you for sharing your photos and your concerns. Typically bruising is deep purple, blue, green, or yellow. Sometimes bruising from higher up on the cutaneous lip (skin portion of lip) can cause swelling that will lead to this type of distortion. Occasionally, deep bruising in the mucosal lip (where lipstick is applied) can also cause this distortion. Another possiblity is simple edema since you received Juvederm Ultra or Ultra Plus only 5 days ago. Finally, there is a chance this is superficially placed filler. The good news is if this is edema, it will resolve in 2-4 weeks. If this is superficially placed filler, some of it can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Return to your board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon for in person evaluation and management. Best of luck,Suneel Chilukuri, M.D.Houston, Texas
The nodule in your upper lip looks lip Juvederm filler but at this point it may look worse because of swelling in the surrounding tissue. In addition to the nodule which is making your upper lip assymetrical, your upper lip now looks much fuller and bigger than the lower lip. The lower lip should, anatomically, always be filler and bigger than the upper lip. This is a common error during lip augmentation when either just the upper lip is injected or more filler is placed in the upper than the lower lip. The disproportionation of the lower lip being fuller than the upper should always be maintained to keep the lips looking natural. The nodule in your lip will go away with time. Gentle massaging may help.
Hi and thank you for your question! Lumps and swelling following filler injection are quite common and they are all expected to fully resolved within 2 weeks, so if you had the fillers recently, you can wait. If it has been beyond the two-week period, you should do a follow up with your...
No one can predict exactly how long dermal fillers will last from person to person, even though we have a good idea of the overall average. In some, JUVÉDERM® results fade more quickly than others. This may be the case for you, or you may simply benefit from adding a bit more product. Call y...
Hi and thank you for your question! Having lumps and bumps during the first few days after filler in lips is common. Even though you indicated that the swelling has gone down, it can still persist for up to two weeks and you shouldn't do anything until the residual swelling is completely gone. ...
