The tip moves when you smile because the tip needs better support. Your nose would probably look very nice if it was reduced in size and shortened. Computer imaging is not a guarantee, but it's a great tool to allow the patient to see an approximate representation of what the surgeon could do. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty expert for consultation.

You should see a surgeon who does computer morphing. We do it routinely for all rhinoplasty patients. It really helps make sure everyone is on the same page and set expectations. However, make sure you see before and after patients to know that the surgeon can deliver actual results.

There are a number of software programs that can be used by your plastic surgeon to alter and modify your photographs to show what could be achieved with a rhinoplasty. It allows you to see what would happen if your dorsum is reduced and narrowed and your tip projection slightly increased, so that it does not droop when you smile. Check with the plastic surgeons that you wish to consult with to see if they have the software available. Best wishes.

Absolutely. Many plastic surgeons, including my practice, has simulation software that I use to help simulate the procedure and tailor it for you. There may be software out there that allows you to do it from home but in my opinion that wont be very accurate because everyones anatomy is different and what is possible is different in everyone so the best person to manipulate the images is the surgeon who may be performing the procedure so that they can do realistic simulations for you.

A large portion of my practice is dedicated to rhinoplasty surgery. It is important to only see plastic surgeons with extensive experience in rhinoplasty, ie perform at least 6 per month and have performed hundreds of cases. YES, you should have an idea how your nose will look after rhinoplasty before committing to it. The best approach is for your surgeon to graphically simulate your result as shown at the link below. Looking at your surgeon's gallery of rhinoplasty results is also a testament for (or indictment against) their work, and will help adjust your expectations.

Yes, there are computer techniques that will allow you to remodel your nose. However, one thing that would effect your smile appearance would be a lip lift. A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. You would be an excellent candidate for a rhinoplasty and lip lift.
