I am a 5’ 10” tall female wweighing currently in at 150lbs. I am 42 years old and in good shape and try to eat healthy as possible. Back in April 2019 I had a Brazilian butt lift done with 5 1/2 liters of fat removed from my lower and upper stomach, flanks and lower back with 1000cc’s of fat transfered to each cheek. 4 years later after paying first the 14k for the bbl and then paying the same surgeon 3k more to correct his lipo job, I am now left with being severely self conscious. Answer: Poorly done at Liposuction Delivering consistent quality, liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people believe. The number of plastic surgeons who can consistently deliver quality results, including making accurate assessments is relatively small. The consequences of juicing and inexperienced provider speaks for itself. Liposuction results are fairly permanent and irreversible. If done poorly the first time it becomes very difficult to improve on the outcome. Each time someone has a procedure the chance of having a quality outcome is reduced. Typically, some improvements are usually possible but a lot has to do with how the first procedure was performed. Converting the outcome to something that looks attractive becomes more difficult if the first procedure was done aggressively. The number of plastic surgeons who do Liposuction and fat transfer well on a consistent basis is small. For that reason, patients should be more selective then they think necessary when it comes to finding the right provider. I suggest patients do this they have a multiple in person consultations before scheduling surgery. I suggest patient start by having at least five in person consultations before choosing a provider. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body characteristics to your own. Ask providers to show you examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes, and outcomes that did not turn out, as well as they had hoped. Providers may be apprehensive to do this, but patients should insist on seeing as efficient number of before, and after pictures to get a clear understanding of what typical results look like. And experience provider should have no difficulty showing at least 50 sets of before and after pictures. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
