Prior to my lipo procedure I had an hourglass figure that I was born with. I remember the plastic surgeon telling me if I didn’t include my hips that I would look wider, so I agreed. All that was done during that lipo procedure was Lipo on my lower abdomen, along with skin extraction, inner and outer thighs and hips. What can I do to my hourglass shape back? I have dips and most importantly all the fat is gone on my hips. 1 dr told me if I fat transfer won’t work and only 20% will stay. Pls help
Answer: Hourglass shape I encourage you to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person evaluation. If there is sufficient fat around the midsection then that could be sculpted to emphasize curves. If there is not adequate fat then you can consider fat grafting to the hips. A consultation is needed to determine if you are a candidate.

Answer: Fat transfer Hello ! It is not uncommon for liposuction to change the shape of your body, and in some cases, it can even lead to a loss of curves. The removal of fat from the hips during liposuction can cause the hips to appear less prominent, leading to a less defined hourglass shape. One possible solution to restore your hourglass shape could be a fat transfer procedure, also known as fat grafting. This procedure involves taking fat from one area of the body, purifying it, and then injecting it into another area, such as the hips. The fat transfer procedure can add volume to the hips, making them appear more prominent and restoring the hourglass shape. While it is true that not all of the fat transferred during the procedure will survive, studies have shown that a significant portion of the transferred fat can remain in the treated area for several years. You should consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has experience in fat transfer procedures to determine if it is a viable option for you. I hope this helps, best of luck !

Answer: BBL Thank you so much for your question! Based on your pictures and medical history you can benefit from BBL surgery. However, after BBL procedure only 40% of fat stays in your body. It's worth noting that maintaining a healthy diet and exercise regimen after BBL surgery is important to help ensure the best possible results and to minimize the risk of fat loss or complications. Hope it helps!

Answer: Making quality assessments Making a quality assessment requires seeing quality pictures. To make an assessment on the outcome of a plastic surgery we need to see proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have a before and after pictures and ask your surgeon to forward the ones they took. Pictures in the clothing do not help us make quality assessments. Liposuction should be considered a permanent and irreversible operation. Patients should choose providers carefully by having multiple in person consultations during which they should ask providers to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients who had similar body characteristics, and had the same procedure. An experienced provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before and after pictures of commonly performed procedures, like Liposuction. I recommend patient start the process by having at least five in person, consultations and consider scheduling more unless they feel very confident they have found one of the best providers. Delivering consistent quality Liposuction results is more difficult than most people believe. There’s a substantial number of board-certified plastic surgeons who are well intended but simply aren’t good at Liposuction. Doing this procedure well on a consistent basis is more difficult than people believe and the number of plastic surgeons who have mastered Liposuction is small. Revision procedures, generally include additional liposuction, fat, transfer, and occasionally converting the procedure to a skin tightening operation. Without seeing proper pictures, we can’t make an assessment, or give you a recommendation. The process to find a provider to do revision work is more or less the same as finding a provider to do primary procedures. Generally the best surgeons for revision work are the same ones who do the best primary work. The exception would be if you need fat transfer, in which case you need to vet providers for both Liposuction and fat transfer procedures. Fat transfer can sometimes be an option for revising poorly done Liposuction. If the procedure was aggressive and most of the fat was a Removed than fat transfer, becomes very difficult process because the body lacks host tissue to support fat grafting. In that case fat grafting may need to be done during multiple procedures. To find the best provider I recommend having multiple in person consultations. The difference with revision work as providers are unlikely to have as many before, and after pictures of revision work, since revision is not as common as primary procedures. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
