I had half a syringe placed on 12/28 and the other half placed on 1/4. When I went back on 1/4 I could tell the left side of my lip had a lump but the doctor said no one would notice / I’m being too critical of my face. This doctor has previously done lip filler for me a few years ago and I never had a problem. I want him to dissolve it and replace my lips with new filler for no cost... Is that unreasonable to ask? And any idea as to why it looks this way? Thanks!
Answer: Lumpy Lips After Juvederm I don't think you are being too critical at all. This is clearly a suboptimal result and your lumps are noticeable in your pictures. This is likely due to poor injection technique and placement of fillers. This is why it is so important to find a physician injector who knows the anatomy of the lip inside out. Fortunately, you can have the filler dissolved with Hyaluronidase. It may take a few sessions, but I would wait for a couple of weeks after the filler is fully dissolved before starting over. Make sure you find an experienced physician injector next time. Best wishes.

Answer: Lumps after lip filler Heklo, you sure have some lumps, some visible and some not. I would gently massage those areas to smooth the lumps out. It is not unreasonable to ask your physician to dissolve out some of the filler but keep in mind that it may take away more volume than you expect.

Answer: Lumpy lips 1 month after Juvederm Ultra Plus was placed in lips. Why does it look this way? Thank you for sharing your question and photographs and I am sorry to hear of your lip augmentation difficulties. I agree that your lips have significant lumps that should be dissolved in order to restore your previous appearance or at least improve upon your current results. Typically I would cover the cost of the dissolving agent as this is injector technique error but each office handles this differently. Talk to your office and voice your concerns.

Answer: It's very reasonable to ask that filler be dissolved Hi there. I agree that your filler looks lumpy. This appears to be due to technique and subopitmal placement. There seems to be areas of filler close to the wet part of the lip (mucous membrane) that is causing this appearance. Juvederm Ultra Plus is firm. I don't think massage will be helpful at this point especially being that you are now several weeks out, however, it may be worth trying for a few days. If any of my patients were to have a result they did not like, I would certainly dissolve the filler at no cost ( unless the patient in question is a Carolina fan...:) JK!). Thus, I think your request is very reasonable, but different practices/doctors may have different policies/protocols. Wishing you well from here in the Triangle. Go Duke.

Answer: Lumps in Lips with Juvederm Ultra Plus I'm sorry that you are distressed by the lumps that have developed in your lips. It is easy for providers to say "no-one will notice"... Fact is, if the patient [you] notice, then it's a big deal. [At least that is my opinion and belief.] Lumps, bumps, granuloma's are listed in my consent form for all filler injections. That said, there are certain products that I use in certain locations to alleviate this potential complication. I am not a huge fan of Juvederm Ultra Plus in lips because of this exact reason. Every hyaluronic acid filler is made up of little "balls" of hyaluronic, the "size" and "firmness" of these balls varies depending on the filler. Juvederm Ultra plus is made up of balls that are a little too big and firm for most lips, so I am not surprised by the lumpiness. I will not say that I have never used Juvederm Ultra Plus in lips. Rather, I will say that I am very selective on whose lips this product can be used in. For some people, it is a nice product to create natural looking "pillows". I would ask your provider to inject the lumps with some hyaluronidase [a product that breaks down the filler] in very small doses. He/she may be able to just treat the lumps without having you go through the process of multiple injections to fully dissolve the filler followed by re-injection. Each time you put a needle into the body there is a risk for bruising, so I like to keep the number of needle pokes to the least number possible, hence the recommendation to inject just the 'lumpy parts". I hope this is helpful and you end up getting the lips you deserve.
