I had Halo and BBL done 9 weeks ago and my skin is dry and pores seem enlarged. Is this normal? (photos)

Thanks for your question. You certainly have been patient - the things you are experiencing are very common in the first few weeks, but usually have cleared up by now. Make sure none of your skin care has any exfoliating or peeling ingredients which can be very drying to recently lasered skin. No lactic, glycolic, fruit or salicylic acids, no vitamin C, retinol or retin-A, absolutely nothing in this category. Your treating office should review your skin care if they haven't done so. You may need to go back to using a post care recovery balm for a while - if not vaseline, then it's actually worth trying crisco for a few days. You can actually apply makeup OVER the crisco and it often sits better. Mostly, you need to stay closely in touch with your treating office and they should be consistently working with you until you are healed. If your laser tech isn't helping, there is a physician responsible for the office. Either they or a higher level provider may need to see you. 

As Dermatologist we approach things a little differently. Namely we want to know your goal, the diagnosis then prescribe a treatment for your condition and expected outcomes. In some cases its HALO, in others it maybe a compounded mixture of creams, and gentle lasers. Having worse skin from a treatment is not normal - this is not the aim of any treatment. I suggest comparing the before and after photos, and speaking to your dermatologist who prescribed you the HALO in the first place. From the photos you may have melasma, a condition that can be worsened by HALO. HALO is excellent as a low downtime procedure for pure sun damage and non-hormonal pigmentation, but can be a disaster in patients with pre-existing melasma.
