I'm Latina 3 days post Halo. Should I go back if I'm not seeing any results? How long should I wait before going back? (photo)

You need to discuss your expectations with your provider, but it is too early to judge!  Changes in the collagen take weeks, so more improvement is anticipated.  If you have medium or dark skin type, then your provider may have been conservative with the energy settings to protect you from complications.  Return and get a clear picture of what you and your doctor are expecting to happen.

Hello thank you for your questions and your pictures. Most people don't see results from Halo until about 6-8 weeks after they've had the treatment. Things like redness, flakiness and dry skin are directly related to the depth of the treatment and the density that was used. I would suggest you ask your provider how strong of a treatment you received. Each patient's recovery is different.It is too soon to tell, I tell patients that their optimal results are 6-8 weeks. If you have any questions regarding your treatment, it is best to address your concerns with your treating physician. 

Thanks for the great question! Depending on what type of treatment you had (halo vs halo pro) you're healing might be slightly different. Because of your darker skin type you likely had a lighter treatment by your provider so as to not cause post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Even though you may of had a lighter treatment you will still see results. Most patients typically start peeling around days 3-4. After this you will notice an improvement in your skin text and tone. I tell patients it takes 10-12 weeks before they will see the results of new collagen growing in. Be patient as it takes awhile! Best of luck and I hope you love your results!~Dr. Sieber

Thanks for your question.  The reaction you have from the Halo is dependent on whether you had a Halo Pro treatment (ablative and nonablative laser) or Halo (nonablative only).  A Nonablative laser does not break the skin and spending on the strength of treatment ( power,depth, and density) done the reaction can vary.  I would suggest you return to the provider who performed the procedure and have a conversation about your goals, experience with the current treatment and what settings were used.  Best wishes!

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. It is still a bit too early to make judgement on the efficacy of your treatment. Without knowing your settings, its impossible for me to give you exact expectations, however some patients do experience a delay in their flaking. At 3 days out, you are at the changeover time from swelling and redness and getting on towards the flaking stage. Had I done your treatment, I would certainly welcome you contacting me and posing this question and then I would likely ask you to be patient. Give your treatment 2-3 weeks to move through the early stages of the process and then make your judgement. The collagen changes require months to fully develop but pigmentary changes are usually best seen at 2-3 weeks post treatment. I hope this helps. 

Yes it can as HALO is a hybrid laser. The flaking can be adjusted - that is due to the erbium laser. The non ablative component of HALO can treat under your skin without the flaking -once again the downtime is directly proportional to the laser density and treatment level (including depth of laser). Explain your concerns to your specialist and they will discuss the possibility of a higher setting for the next session. HALO is designed as a low downtime laser, that can be tailored according to your skin type and down time.
