I am wanting to address acne scars, discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles and broken capillaries on my face. One doctor recommended the Fractora and they said I could do one treatment to get the results I wanted or I could do spot treatments for areas where I wanted additional improvements. The other doctor recommended the Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser and they recommended doing three treatments. Please advise which treatment is the best for the items I am wanting to address. Thanks!
Answer: Be careful I would be cautious anytime someone says one treatment will be enough. Thats a setup for disappointment. These devices work very differently. Of the two devices mentioned here, I prefer Halo. Combination treatments have become the go to in all of laser medicine, because the results we get from combining two treatments is usually more dramatic. Halo combines two lasers delivered in a safe way at exactly the same time. Fractora does not. Fractora is only radio frequency, and although the device gives good results I think Halo yields superior results for the conditions you describe. I suspect two Halo treatments a month apart will be sufficient. I recommend you look at real self ratings before you decide. Fracture has a worth it rating of 71%. Halo's worth it rating is currently 86%. Best of luck. -CR

Answer: Acne Scars Thanks for the great question. When it comes to acne scars there aren't any procedures that will give you the results you want with a single treatment. Because most acne scars are so deep, it will take at least 2-3 treatments before seeing a big difference. I also prefer Halo and have had very good results with it treating acne scars, fine lines, and sun damage. The broken capillaries might requite a different treatment like IPL or a different laser depending on the size. I hope this helps and best of luck!~Dr. Sieber

Answer: Halo vs Fractora I would agree completely with Dr Robb's opinion on this question. Always use caution when promised one treatment to successfully improve all of your blemishes. The Halo does a brilliant job of improving fine lines, wrinkles and superficial discoloration. Often, however, BBL is used in combination with the halo to even more dramatically improve brown and red discoloration. Depending on your depth and type of acne scarring, it will likely take multiple treatments with virtually any low downtime procedure. Of the treatments that exist, Halo definitely gets the best benefit per treatment. Often 2 treatments in a 4-6 week timeframe is sufficient. Good luck. Thank you for your question.

Answer: Different lasers and devices for different skin conditions. HALO is excellent for addressing fine lines, discromia or brown discolouration and improve altered skin texture. It is NOT good for the treatment of acne scars, nor broken capillaries. A better combination would be a mix of Fraxel 1927 and CO2 Fractional laser in a Hybrid method- much like Halo, followed by vascular laser like V BEAM or even IPL for redness and residual brown area. Lasers have to used to treat specific concerns, to give the best outcomes. Dr Davin Lim, Brisbane Dermatologist. Australia.
